Got it.
This is my first Pokemon run, didn't play any of the games.
Caught a Bulbasaur in the Starbucks drive thru this morning. This is pretty fun stuff.
So you basically should never have repeat Pokemon in your Pokedex? Always trade in the repeats for candy?

Pokemon can have different movesets. And some can spawn XL or XS and make them stronger or weaker.
Don't just blindly trade in any repeats. Look at their stats first

Leveled up to an 8 this morning and have started accumulating Razz Berries.....at what point do you guys use them when trying to capture?

I use them all the time, but I'm 20 and have a frick ton of them and have easy access to a ton of pokestops.

I'm in software and have a building full of young software engineers....I thought work would be a pokemon playground. Booooooo. No stop. No gym, few pokemon. So it isn't partially based on a high concentration of people?

Is the point of all this to eventually fight at a gym?
I have a gym close to my place. Is the whole point to collect, get them bad arse, and go fight at a gym?

The main goal is to Catch Em All. Gyms are bragging rights to show off your pokemon to other players.

XLs have higher cp caps than normal
XS have slightly lower
I posted some pics 2 pages back or so of rattatas
Both were at the same cp% but the XL had 14 more cp

No it's based off ingress and how people played it. Your software engineers apparently didn't play it and didn't submit portals for your work and weren't active in that area.

That's why getting uncommon Pokemon at low levels is pointless. Catch more pidgeys and rattata to Lvl up and just focus on filling your pokedex. Capture easy gyms to get coins and don't worry about holding a gym any time soon.

I just have to say, god dammit I love this game. Someone put another lure at one of the Pokestops near my office and I had like 7 Doduos pop up. Got me some candy 
I do think they can tweak the GPS sensitivity and range. Some places I have to be like right on top of them. Others, seems like I can be pretty far away.

Since I just started, the best way to roll is to collect all the pidgey's and rattata's I can and level up a couple of them with all of the candy I am obtaining?
