I think he's talking about the new Exotic Sniper rifle that is used as your primary. From what I've heard, it's nothing to write home about.

we downed crota this afternoon. got a fusion rifle.... any other gun would have been great, lol

I'll probably end up with something like this. We are going to finish him off in a little while. Hopefully the wizards don't take too long and we can get started with Crota and not have to push the clock for those east coast guys.
Also, to the crew for tonight, my dispatcher that's working tonight is one that I'm really cool with, so I just called to see if we'd be slow and he said he's going to keep us down unless he absolutely needs us. Really good news.
