I'm debating what I should do. I have enough ascendant shards to upgrade to a mid range level 28, but I'm not sure if it is a good idea since I have no raid armor.
Thoughts? Is it worth wasting my precious ascendant shards if its not on armor that can get me to 30?
I of course have a lot more ascendant energy than I do ascendant shards.

It is really up to you. My first guy I leveled up to 29 before having full raid gear.
In the time it took to collect the full raid set, I had almost enough shards. So it was not that big a deal to get him to 30.
I lean towards getting to 29 to make the raid easier and less stressful. You also have the chance to attempt Hard mode at 29. Which is the only chance to get the raid helmet.

do it, get to 28/29 then raiding will be much easier on you. 29 you can do hardmode and you can get more mats and gear.

I was in the same situation and decided to start upgrading my guy anyway. Judging by last night I will never have the raid gear anyway

Got nothing. Oh well. I'm about to put this game on the probation list. I'm at the point where all I can really do is raid and it doesn't seem like I can catch a break getting on a raiding squad.
There needs to be higher level match making and some incentive to keep playing other than hoping something drops after killing a boss for the 10 millionth time.
