A friend of mine was telling me about this one so I pulled it up on GamePass and gave it a go, barely started but could be fun I guess once I figure out what the hell I’m doing.

Anyone have any pointers?

There’s literally no point to the game. Or at least there wasn’t when it first came out.

They've added a lot.

There is a main quest line that you are trying to reach the center of the universe. You have to explore, get items to sell, buy ships, upgrade, etc

But yeah it's basically a giant sandbox of you doing what you please. It can be entertaining

Could be like me: still waiting for it to go on sale for less than $30 before jumping in

It’s definitely worth 30$ imo. Especially in it’s completed state.

I believe you. I just have a big enough backlog that I'm not willing to pay $30 for it a half decade later. It's basically a point of pride for me at this point

It can be entertaining but it got extremely repetitive for me. You go to new planet after new planet and you start to realize that while the planets and life on them may look different when it comes down to it they are really all the same. You probably have to play it to see what I mean. The storyline was a little boring too. In saying that, I haven't played it since the most recent update when they added the giant worms so maybe it's a little different now.

basically....where's the carbon, sodium, and Oxygen.

I picked it back up a couple months ago as a time-killer. It's relaxing but can probably get old if you try to play it a ton.

It’s supposed to be that in a way. It’s meant to be relaxing to chill out is how I received it. It’s basically the closest a game can come to the chase the dragon game Randy and Stan play in the guitar hero episode of South Park.

There’s not really any pointers to give. Just be glad you weren’t one of the day one buyers like I was. It’s pretty chill and relaxing, but extremely repetitive.

You explore planets, collect elements and craft/sell things. Occasional fights with robots. Not sure if they’ve changed it, but there used to be abandoned ships everywhere that you could find and repair. That’s a cheaper option than having to buy them.

I couldn't stand the constant inventory management. Has that got any better?

You can reset your system time/date and play offline to complete the past special events and earn the "one time" rewards like a special craft for all other replays to start out, pets, special gear, etc..

Maybe if you’re a nice boy I’ll gift it to on Christmas for steam because someone did to me when I already had it. Idk if that’s allowed though lol

There is still inventory management but it's not bad, especially once you get the upgrades that allow you to transfer items from yourself to your ship, and your freighter.
