The DK Bananza Direct was this morning. I was tied up with work stuff, but it appears that a young version of Pauline (the Mayor of New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey) rides on his back and can cause DK to change forms.
I'll be honest, I didn't give Bananza much thought when it was shown on the launch Direct back in April, but this looks pretty sweet.

I've watched 10 or 20 different streamers do 30 minute plays if DKB and I still have no idea what the point or objective is other than just running around in an open world destroying the environment.

technically Pauline originated as the princess/damsel in the original Donkey Game game.

That's good point.

It really feels like Nintendo's take on the sandbox genre. Not really my cup of tea, but it looks like it would be a lot of fun for people that like sandbox games

I think Nintendo gave up on having the Mushroom Kingdom (and adjacent) be any sort of cohesive universe a long time ago. It's now just this gigantic roster of familiar characters that all sorta tag in and out of any game that suits them and there's no real narrative or chronology from game to game. There really aren't even villains anymore. Bowser and Wario are more mischief makers.
Given it's been over 40 years and hundreds of games this is probably how it has to be.

They don't follow any rules with Zelda, either. No more than 2-3 games in a given iteration and then it's time to Etch-a-Sketch the whole thing and start over.

At least they attempted to create an official Zelda timeline

Yes and it's complete nonsense, the type of thing you have to do when you make about a dozen games that have absolutely nothing to do with each other and then try to invent and retcon a bunch of connections and timelines that never existed.
I prefer a different totally made up explanation I heard once I really liked. It's called the Legend of Zelda and it represents just that, a Legend that is told throughout the generations. Legends have a way of changing over time. New details are added, others fade away. What's fact or fiction becomes debatable. I like to think of it as there's this land of Hyrule and the people there tell stories of this legend that supposedly happened a long time ago and as the millennia have passed by the legend they tell of changes, but still has the same main people and general story.

I have basically just accepted this years ago that this was the truth lol

I love that. The timeline shite is bogus to me as well but I do love this explanation. It's not all that dissimilar to how the main religions of the world share commonalities with certain tales/fables/stories but with some differences along the way.

Is there anywhere to order one online right now?
I still haven't found one, but apparently people have been having luck using a site called popfindr.com. I checked tonight, and it says there are two gamestops within an hours drive that have 15 in stock each. I'm going to give it a go tomorrow morning... hopefully it's legit.

Lots of civilizations at/around the equator have/had similar pyramidal structures - Egyptians, Mayans, Babylonians, Khmer etc. but no means ever to have shared architectural backgrounds or commonalities.
It's a good way of looking at it.
Many tales featuring an epic hero, a wise princess, an evil sorcerer and a mystical golden triad/energy have all the makings of an infinite number of iterations over time.

Turns out popfindr works. Finally got a switch2 up in Rome this morning. Glad it worked because that drive to Rome sucks.

See positioning at the 2 minute, 57 second mark:
Dandelion Depths
Go into 2 player multiplayer -> Drive the track normally and position P1 slightly into one of the cave entrances where the track splits into 2 -> Have P2 collect the double item box just before the cave entrances -> If no Kamek orb, turn around and drive off the edge so LAkitu picks you up (if you don't do this, you will only get weak items like green shells next time you hit the box) -> Once you get Kamek item, drive P2 down the same cave entrance P1 is in and use the item while behind P1 (Kamek doesn't always follow the same path, so being in the same cave entrance forces him down the right path

I did this and it turned me into Nabbit that I already had. Took forever to just get the orb, too. And I already had Nabbit.

Did it again and got Swoop.
