Introducing Mario 40th Anniversary with a movie announcement and ports of two Wii games is very on-brand for 2025 Nintendo

I didn't even hate that part of it, but when that was basically it I was disappointed.

They honestly expect people to purchase a large, clunky replica Virtual Boy to dock their switch in to play emulated versions of 30 year old VB games? Almost all of which are absolutely terrible.

Between it being locked behind the premium service and needing this accessory, wtf is the point? A few hardcore Nintendo nerds will get this as a lark and play around with it for and hour and then never touch it again.

I just want a Switch port of Symphony of the Night, dammit.

I have no idea how many of these things they actually think they are going to sell

There is 0 nostalgia for the Virtual Boy. It barely sold at all and most people who bought it actually hated it. It's a punchline at this point and releasing it's game for free for LULZ would have been mildly cute but trying to charge anything for it is hilarious. I doubt they spent all that much money prepping the games and manufacturing these things but I find it hard to believe whatever they spent won't just be money lost.

It should also be noted there is not $100 of value to be found in the entire VB library. The Wario Land game for it is pretty good, the rest is absolute trash.

Just a very bizarre use of time and resources.

I did not have Nintendo attempting to resurrect a dog shite peripheral that nobody wants for 99 dollars on my 2025 bingo card.

Hard to disagree. This was an extremely stupid announcement.

If anything, they should just release the entire VB catalogue on the Switch Online service without needing to buy anything extra. Or at least make it work with the Labo 3D goggles from a few years back. It's not like the games were actually 3D or really needed the headset.

I think we get a look at the next Mario Game, or at least a teaser. That or Smash Bros. They are going to want one of those next holiday season.

3rd Party - Final Fantasy VII Release Date (Or Drop), Hades 2 Drop and I think we get at least a couple of new announcements - RE Requiem? Marvel Rivals? 007?

Had no internet all morning.

Looks like outside of a mario release, this was pretty close.

I wouldn't say Underwhelmed - RE and Fire Emblem are nice announcements, but man they had a chance to enter the holiday season with something bigger.

DK DLC looks fun.

Teleroboxer is supposed to be good but I have a feeling it aged poorly.

Is it an actual port, a remaster, or straight up emulation like the 3D Allstars version?
