I am one of those rare people that have never docked it to my tv and never detach the controllers.

This is marketed to the traveling medical sales professional obviously.

People will buy it for their children because it's cheaper and has no detachable parts for the kids to lose/break.
Yep. My kids already broke a joycon from the one we bought for Christmas. More interested in just buying this. They used it more as a handheld console anyway.

from googling apparently mass amounts of people have problems with the left blue joycon drifting and when they buy replacements they get the same problem after a few weeks.

Can't think of a worse controller design than those damn joycons.

A bet a lot of parents will purchase not knowing you can't connect to the TV. Some games like Mario Party will be unplayable.

Where is my Switch Pro, I hope this comes soon.

A lot of people are having the same drift issue with the pro controllers as well(I have one that is unusable). Nintendo just did a shite job with controllers this cycle. Thankfully I can use my Wii U pro controller on the Switch that has zero issues after all these years

I see several people wanting a switch “pro”. What for? And why would Nintendo make one?

They already aren’t competing with high graphic games, they’ve shown that they’re fine with more animated or cartoony looking games. Current switch runs 720 undocked and 1080 docked, doubt they could boost it to 4K docked so at best you’re hoping for 1080 undocked? Anything else I’m missing? Most of the games they’re making don’t need high end performance and they don’t seem interested in trying to have a mainline AAA games like Cod, Battlefield, Red dead redemption 2, etc. on there.

I’m just trying to understand the rationale for it, I don’t think a pro switch would sell very well (especially if it costs more than the base grade switch). The PS4 pro and XB1X made sense, switch pro......I don’t see it. I do think the switch lite will sell pretty well.

Well yeah. Lots of games don't actually hit 720p undocked while also having other performance hits. The hope is that a Switch Pro would actually give 720p with a stable framerate.

Only thing I can think of is he's early 20s and thinks that TVs are somehow "old technology" now

I think it is something like 95% of households in the US have a tv. It increases year by year. My only guess is that he lives in a bubble of people with projectors. Must be nice!

Yes from what I understand the D-pad on the pro controller is also pretty terrible and registers incorrect inputs all the time. When Tetris 99 became popular it became a more known issue because a single down press does a quick drop and people were getting tons of erroneous quick drops.

It really is a shame too because Nintendo has always had some of the best controllers. And they've been making D-pads for what, like 35 years now? How do you screw up the d-pad design?
