New World MMO - Anyone playing it?

I've seen it on Twitch. Looks pretty solid so far.

Rumors are that it's bricking some high end cards. Specifically EVGA 3090's. Play with caution.

Got the beta email. Not touching the game until Nvidia has drivers updated specifically for the game.

If I had to guess, it's not bricking in the way generally use it (a root level firmware corruption that causes an otherwise perfectly fine bit of hardware to stop functioning), but there is some flaw in the hardware itself that the game is inadvertently triggering that's causing some component of the hardware to physically fail, sometimes catastrophically.
If you read the user post in the link I posted, it talks about a failure which the card seemed to use to protect itself. Then when his idiot arse fired up the same set of circumstances, this time he "heard a loud pop", which is probably a blown capacitor on the card.
In theory, the card should have either throttled or crashed itself before that point was physically possible, but for whatever reason, those safeguards didn't kick in.

MMOs are trash games with low quality gameplay. You have to really be into social aspects to really get mileage out of an MMO.

Until we start getting MMOs with truly dynamic questing and worlds (similar to what EQ: Next was working toward) I think MMO's have innovated about as much as they can.
