Most Horrific Plotlines/Questlines in a Non-Horror Game (SPOILERS, obviously)

This thread is inspired by my experience on Saturday night. After an awful loss to Vandy, I figured I'd relax by playing some video games. So I fired up Assassin's Creed Origins since I've been really enjoying by time with it so far.
Well, that was a mistake, as I finally got to the "Shadya" questline. Good lord, my Saturday night went from bad to worse.
Anyone else have any examples of plotlines/questlines in non-horror games that hit you like a ton of bricks? I'd say What Remains of Edith Finch is another example, but at least you have a feeling that game won't have a happy ending.
ETA: Spec Ops: The Line is another example.

That quest rips your heart out. Especially when the waypoint comes up and it's deep in the water....

The Bloody Baron questline in the Witcher 3 is pretty dang heavy.

Shalebridge Cradle from Thief Deadly Shadows. Everything else is fighting for a distant 2nd Place.
It has its own Wikipedia page LINK and countless articles about it LINK LINK
The genius of it is that the entire first section has 0 enemies, so you're creeping around terrified to open doors and go around corners for no reason
ETA: Ok I should've read the entire OP. You're including heavy thematic material too, figured since the title had non-horror game that you meant horror levels/sequences like Ravenholm from HL2, Flood from Halo 1, etc.

Sad that the best quest of the game gets done so early on

I realize it's a 30-year-old 16-bit cartoony sprite RPG, but Chrono Trigger has some endgame content (specifically the campfire scene and the Geno Dome) that is heavy as hell.
CT is my favorite game ever and I hope for a proper 3D remake one day. Those two quests would be absolutely bonkers.

ChronoTrigger is second in my heart only to Symphony of the Night. FFVI gets the bronze.

The bigfoot quest in RDR Undead Nightmare was just really sad.

There's an old quest in the original EQ (no idea if it's still there) where a dark elf in Neriak gives you a quest to kill a Halfling female in Rivervale. When you kill her you get her head (which you give to the quest giver as proof of doing the deed). His response is/was along the lines of:
"Foolish young elf. This was no contract from King Naythox. I wanted Lil Honeybugger killed before she gave birth to my child. Only a naive dark elf would set foot in Halfling territory. Here's your great reward, garbage from other guild exploits."
Killing then beheading someone just to abort a child is pretty freaking horrific in my book.

Shadow Temple/Bottom of the Well in Ocarina of Time scared the absolute shite out of me as a kid.
