This is a little annoying. It doesn't require an online connection to play, but it won't update your points and rewards until you connect to the internet.
Despite some of its launch month hiccups (which pretty much all games experience) it is still the most fun game I've played in a while. I can't put it down.

Everyone isn’t dead. If anything, the story ended at the beginning of time for the franchise and liu kang is overseeing the passage of time.

They won't include Mileena because of the falling out between Karen Strassman (her voice actor) and Netherrealm. Kari Wahlgren can't voice Mileena worth a damn.

I’m sure there’s gotta be someone out there that could competently voice mileena.
Besides, after Ronda Rousey’s Sonya performance, I don’t think quality is netherrealms pedigree.

Ronda Rousey's awful performance takes away from the enjoyment of the game. They turned Sonya Blade into "Ronda Rousey dressed as Sonya Blade" for this.
They've made some questionable voice casting for this game.
Kitana - Sounds way too much like Starfire.
Sonya Blade - There was no point, NO POINT, in bringing Ronda Rousey on board. If Tricia Helfer was too expensive, why not recast Ashly Burch (Cassie Cage from MKX) as a young Sonya?
Shao Kahn - What the hell was wrong with his MK9 actor? Sounds EXACTLY like Atrocitus from Injustice 2 (it's the same actor, I know, but he sounds EXACTLY the same).
Noob Saibot - Why not use his actor from MK9? Big fail here, as it's Bi Han, not DOCTOR CLAW.
Frost - Sara Cravens' voice grates on my nerves. (Power Girl from Injustice). She's trying WAY too hard to sound harsh.
Kabal - Nothing wrong with the voice, but not one mention about him being part of the NYPD?
Edit: Just read that many of the voice cast from previous games were not available as there is a strike by certain voice actors against companies that do not provide enough of a share of the game's gross to the voice cast. That's why Karen Strassman (Kitana/Mileena) and Ashly Burch (Cassie Cage) did not reprise their roles from the previous game.

Haven't played one of these since MK3 but I bought this yesterday after all the good reviews.
I finished all the tutorials except for 1 move. That Raiden combo that turns you then pushes the enemy into the corner.
I can't do that for the life of me. I should stick to shooters. I can do the first part of the combo and 2nd part no problem. But together, I don't think my brain can keep up with the speed needed. lol, And I have not even gotten out of the tutorial.

The towers of time are so damn bad. Like best to just stay away from that mode until they "fix it" less you ruin your enjoyment of the game

The completionist in me will not let me out of the tutorial. Don't think I have to worry about that anytime soon with how things were going last night. It's weird as I did not have much of a problem with any other combo.
But yea I did read they are pretty messed up.
I am just using this as a change of pace, I won't be grinding a lot of hours in this game.

I’m insanely jealous of people who are technically proficient at fighting games. I just don’t have that skill set.
I string combos and mash buttons without any real strategy. I always say that I’ll learn how to play correctly with each new release but it never happens.

I feel like the standard controller is not made for some of these combos. I know nothing about fighting games.

How beneficial are arcade sticks really for fighters that don't require crazy movement with the analogue stick?

I’m sure it’s beneficial for executing moves more efficiently. I’ve always considered picking one up, but never pulled the trigger.
I’d imagine any competitive player worth their salt uses one.

I'd rather the d pad over an arcade stick.
I grew up on NES and SNES, played mk1 and 2 in the arcades a lot, never liked the arcade setup.
