Quick pace and he flies around the arena. It’s a good benchmark test for sure.

He was definitely a fun fight. Very similar move set and style to Zinogre from 3U. I had previously made the Hornetaur set so I had the poison gas resist from the get go and crouching to let the bleed fall off worked for me.

Had a thunder damage longsword though and I believe he has a moderate thunder weakness, so that helped a bit.

I'm a Lance user. I had a rarity 4 legiana lance and he is weak to ice. I found him very easy.

Rathalos on the other hand? Dude carted me 3 times pretty easily until I got the hang of him

For both him and Rathian, cutting the tail makes the fight so much easier.

Yep. Once I got that done I did much better.

What really got me was when I would be on fire and poisoned at the same time. Lance has a very slow sheath so sheathing to get away was very dicey. 2 faints from just trying to get away.

The double effects of whatever type suck. Stun + poison is a bitch

Nergigante is a bitch to fight. So far, the hardest fight. Kirin was a good challenge but I downed him without being carted.

When are they available? I killed bleed murder dog in the vale, just killed Rathalos, and going to fight Diablos next.

You should be able to get them soon if you don't have them now. Check the vendor in the middle of the town. I don't remember if it is the first or 2nd upgrade to his inventory. But you will for sure have it after diablos.

Ok thanks. I need all the buffs I can get.

Rathalos was a major gear check for me and I want to get ready for HR

Damn there's so much this game doesn't tell you, I kinda like how it doesn't hold your hand though. Combat feels a little clunky at first but has gradually gotten better, love the twin blades and the bow staff (insect blade?) Makes you feel like an Apache helicopter

It doesn't explain lots of things.

Weapon Damage is something everyone should google and read up on. What they tell you in game is pretty misleading.

I think it would take me months to figure everything out without the internet. Like with the kinsect thing wherever you hit the monster determines what kind of buff you're gonna get. I feel like there's a bunch of hidden combos and I don't know anything about the weapon damage you just mentioned

I beat Diablos. As a lance main with guard rank 3, He never gave me a problem. I could take his charge, not flinch, then turn and charge back over to him and wail away at his taint in relative safety.

Lance is easily my favorite weapon. I can turtle up and pretty much destroy everything, given enough time. Once I learn the monster's moves, I can be more aggressive with when I attack.

High rank should be achieved tonight.

The game changes at High rank. The grind really starts.

Got to high rank last night. Wife taking the kids to our hometown for the weekend to stay with her parents. I get 36 hours of no responsibilities and I intend to use 25-30 of them on monster hunter

re: Monster Hunter World Thread
So what makes this game so addictive? Is it an RPG on the level of Dragon Warrior with caves and exploration etc?

Or do you just zone in, kill a monster, zone out, equip, zone in and hunt/kill over and over?

This

But you also zone in gather material needed to upgrade your stuff for your next big hunt.

The gather/upgrade part and 3 death/50 min hunt timer, plus the combat system make it addictive

re: Monster Hunter World Thread
I've finally been able to kill monsters solo pretty regularly now, getting the feel of the bow for sure. I've tried a few other weapons out and might give the insect glaive a shot at some point, but I'm having fun.
