Reviews appear to be mediocre. Averaging out at 6/7 out of 10. Shame. I was gonna consider getting it, but it appears to be a half baked cash grab instead of a legitimate 60 dollar product.

Averaging 75 on Metacritic before the big players come in: LINK

Although I wouldn't be surprised if this were Aces 2

Yeah the reviewers have all been pretty consistent saying that the story mode is pretty bare. Getting an Aces vibe. Nintendo is focusing too much on making golf super quirky and not just making a golf game with a few wrinkles here and there.

Yeah, from the trailers it worried me that it was Wii Sports Golf repurposed with Mario if you are playing a basic game of golf. I'm still excited to play. I am a golf junky, though.

May get this. Something I can kick my wife’s arse in and troll her about.

Should be a good time.

Sounding more and more like this is just like Aces. That's frustrating.

I was going to get this but not anymore. I really feel like Nintendo is mailing it in on some of these games.

I bought Aces and liked it initially, but it was a bit too bare bones for me. The online tournaments were fun but had no depth.

The best Mario Sports games remains Mario Strikers Charged, which is sad because that game is almost 15 years old now. Mario Sports games have been trash since then.

Nintendo is so bad when it comes to online features as well. Online offerings are so bare bones. Splatoon 2 is the only online game they have that doesn't suck but even then there is so much more that they could do there.

Been playing was fun, wish there were more mini games like a putt putt with obstacles or something of the like.

This describes Nintendo since at least the Gamecube era.

One thing I was going to say after watching the trailers is there's nothing about the golf courses that tell me it's in the Mario world except for the golfers themselves. They should have like goombas walking around in the rough, have koopa troopas in and around the water, the backgrounds/settings should be old Mario levels

Like someone else said, it just comes off as Wii Golf with Mario characters

Still remember playing the one on 64 for like 15 hours straight in highland hall back in 2000 with a dude from down the hall. Skipped all classes and probably moved about 100 feet total all day We were playing a quarter a hole and it was quite a battle.

Easily the longest I ever played a game in one sitting by like half a day. My roommate came home and just shook his head as we hadn’t moved from when he left for a productive day at like 8 AM.

I know I saw the tall sand monsters that are made of a bunch of balls in the trailer. There was a line from the narrator about the elements impacting play.

That was the best part of college that I never appreciated at the time. If you were lucky enough that you didn't have to work when out of class, that was the most free time you will have for the next 50 years of your life.

My senior year (and an extra fall semester after), I only took 12 hours in each of the three and never had a class before 10 AM, so there was many a late nights playing Modern Warfare 2 online or playing the roommates in whatever we were feeling at that time.

The aiming in this game is horrendous... How can they go from N64 and Toadstool Tour to this? Even the 3DS game had better aiming mechanics

Not as bad as I thought near the tail end of waiting, not as good as I wanted.

Fairly meh. It feels too easy to play. Once you get spin and what not, it's hard to mess up.

I was playing the story mode last night and I was surprised how much I liked the running part when it was first introduced. I figured I would only like the actual golf part.

It also took me a while to realize that you don't have to press A again while you swing. The bar going back up is just to adjust the flight path.

Has anyone figured out how the range finder is more beneficial than just using the overhead view to see where to aim?

No clue. I feel like the range finder is absolutely worthless most of the time. The overhead view details the flight/carry of the ball (inner ring) and how far it will roll (outer white translucent ring). I just wish they brought back the viewing angles from TT or at least the adjustable range marker.
