Have decided to make the switch and ordered an HP Omen that comes in tomorrow. I also picked up a Corsair keyboard and mouse to use.

How long did it take those of you who made the switch to get used to keyboard mouse from controller?

I will probably still play controller when I'm with my squad because I assume it'll take time getting used to so I'll play keyboard mouse on my own until I am used it.

What pros and cons have ya'll experienced with making the change?

TIA

I still use PS4 controller for FPS games. I'll work on on my m&k skills from time to time but the transition is more difficult than I'd care to admit. It's just hard not to use controller when I know I'm better using it. Maybe over time I'll get as good with m&k but I doubt it.

I use m&k for everything else though.

I'll be honest, steam and mods make it worth it.

I’m still not totally used to it for all games so I pick and choose when I use the mouse and keyboard and when I use controller

Pros: depending on your specs, graphics are better and fps is higher. mods are awesome

Cons: expensive unless gaming is a big hobby

I genuinely don’t understand how anyone could think a controller is easier than kb/m, unless you’re getting aim assist with the former.

ETA: For clarification, I mean for fps. Some games, like platformers, are absolutely easier with controllers.

It should be pretty quick, but depends on your skill level. A lot better players on PC games, and those players are obviously used to kb/m whereas you are not so the jump can seem large but it's really not.

At the end of the day kb/m has SO much more control and is 100% you, versus the super slow and unresponsive by comparison controller that relies on an aimbot to aim for you it's so bad.

FPS is the one thing you definitely shouldn't be using a controller on, except for maybe Halo.

Everyone always says this—I want to know what someone is running and how much money they spent on a rig that out performs a PS5. I’m running a $4k build with a 6800xt and my PS5 still blows it out the water. Not even gonna talk about the price difference there also.

Link to your rig, or list of specs?

And what game are you playing at what settings on each platform?

pretty much this.

i still get plenty of games for console because I like sitting on the couch and playing certain games with a controller, but anything competitive and anything FPS is getting played on PC for sure. playing FPS with a controller is like being a handyman and using caveman tools. takes about a month of daily play to get accustomed to MKB

mods are so incredible. amazing what people can do.

Ryzen 9 3900X
32GB RAM DDR4 3600
Radeon 6800XT
MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi
Dual 27" Odyssey G7 240hz monitors

Build it for under $4k chief.

I'm not into Minecraft, but I play it with my son--him on PS5 with LG CX series and myself on PC. Max settings on both. The PS5 experience is just all around better. Not to mention I spent hours and hours tweaking everything to get it all dialed in just right (which I will admit is oddly enjoyable for some reason)

I am jealous that you at least have a 6800xt

Been wanting to get a 3080ti or 6900xt for a bit
