My theory is doc and some other streamers got fed up with twitch's recent actions such as with the conduct council and the DMCA issues and they are starting their own platform to secure their futures and put their lives more in their own hands.

Twitch figured it out, and Doc is basically the fall guy, staying silent about the others involved until the platform is up and running. The platform launches and dudes like Tim the tatman and others are bouncing.

one thing i just realized is that joe rogan's podcast will be on spotify september 1st. the "i'll tell you in 2 months" nickmercs video was just a few days ago, and and that timeframe puts you at the beginning of september. could be a coincidence, but too weird not to mention.

I love a good theory just as much as the next guy, but Doc linked to anything Rogan/Spotify just doesn't make sense to me.

If had to bet, I think Doc ends up back on Twitch. He's had videos in the past where he shite on Mixer when it was a thing and praised Twitch for being much better. Granted, this is pending the reason for his ban being publicized, but that's why it's called a bet haha.

yeah, but twitch has really gone off the deep end lately. hiring a trans-deer person as some kind of consultant, joing #metoo, banning people for no reason, etc. has got to take a toll for some people.

i don't remember if someone told me this or i read it in a comment somewhere, but Doc could be making a move to Spotify or wherever and tried to bring his friends with him. he got caught and offered to be the fall guy for his friends. he goes off to take a 2 month vacation and come back on a new platform.

went to giphy to check the gifs, and the only thing that pops up are dr. evil gifs from austin powers.

I dont understand why he would bite the hand that feeds, especially if he's getting paid. Even though twitch has some bullshite rules at times when doc's contract is up he can field some lucrative offers. Im not sure what his value would be now.

Streamers teasing the truth on stream is total bullshite, and to me all they are doing is trying to get those extra subs so in 2 months nic can give the most casual answer or reply to all of this without saying anything at all really.

Interesting. I had not read anything about Doc and Spotify before so I'll retract my original reply for now and do some research.

as of today, there isn't any relation between doc and spotify. only that spotify is coming out with a video streaming service similar to youtube/twitch. hence why joe rogan got a deal. why only do podcasts when gaming has shown to be lucrative as well?

if they really do adopt gaming as well as a few other genres and bring names in like doc, ninja, shroud, tim, nick, etc., that would be a bigger sell than them going to mixer. mixer isn't as big as spotify. spotify has been around for 10+ years, and is bigger than apple/google music. apple has surpassed spotify in paid subs, but spotify offers a free membership with ads and those members keep spotify above apple currently.

so, we still don't know what the ban reason was, but we finally know for a fact that Doc will not be returning to Twitch.

Dextero.com

quote:

He said: "Obviously, for legal counsel, I have to be careful here. But I can say however, that I will not be returning to Twitch, so, I mean, that's it."

"Let's just say all the cards are on the table. I'm more focused on just making sure whatever we do next, whether it's a platform move or not, that it's the right decision for the community and Champions Club that follows me. And that makes sense to what I want to continue to accomplish with this character in terms of taking things to the next level, and whether it's streaming or outside of streaming. So it's just being conscientious of that decision."

The report confirmed that in an email, Doc confirmed that he's considering streaming on his own website, championsclub.gg, and has other options like YouTube and Facebook Gaming as well.

eta: the PC Gamer interview comments:

PCGamer.com

quote:

Sure, and I want to talk about that. But first, you did recently ruffle a few feathers after sharing a video during a stream of Dr. Thomas Cowen, and he was talking about some coronavirus theories. You've been open recently and sharing some of your own thoughts about coronavirus and even relating it to things like 5G networks. Even on your last stream, you were talking about David Ike and his documentary. I'm curious, in bringing up those thoughts—and I think it's okay to call them controversial—did that ever result in Twitch saying anything to you or warning you?

No.

So you don't think that might be the cause?

I don't think so. In fact, I—

Beahm's publicist: We're getting really close to dangerous territory here. So, you know, Doc, we don't know why Twitch banned him, and there is no formal warnings or reprimand on record. That's all legal is going to let him say.

It’s fricking crazy Twitch can perma ban someone without providing justification.

I think he’s going to end up on Spotify. They already made a higher move with getting Rogan. Getting Doc would be ginormous.

it wouldn't be as big as the rogan deal, but it would be pretty big.
