Yasuke has appeared in games before. I keep asking, why is this all of the sudden an issue?

You know why. It’s just not an issue for you, but you know why.

It’s been answered many times. Ubisoft thought it hit the jackpot when they discovered a PhD wrote a book about a black samurai and hired him as their cultural advisor.

Go back and look at their first two years of PR. It was a total promotion of historical accuracy, and due to their attention to detail they were able to bring a little known aspect of history to the forefront.

Lo and behold, it turned out that esteemed advisor was actually just a young adult fiction writer who wrote an aspirational story and packaged it as historically accurate. As soon as word got out the narrative immediately changed and they began claiming the game was never meant to be anything more than entertainment. Once that about face took place it was game on.

I’m actually impressed. Yasuke was the focal point of contention because people thought it was a stretch to include him.

They managed to make everyone forget that and now people are laughing because he’s fricking a non-binary they/them

Man just imagine it. All the young brothers pick this game up on launch day and can’t wait to play as an African samurai. Only to accidentally come across a scene where he plows some young Japanese man in the arse. Also, keep in mind this was originally delayed to come out during black history month

I will defend AC Shadows the same way I did KCD2

If you find yourself fricking a dude, you definitely wanted to see that happen.

Having seen pictures of both dev teams, I’d be inclined to agree more with you on KC2. No telling what a bunch of liberal French Canadian white women code in their game

So I watched a guy play it on twitch for over an hour. Game is beautiful along with the environment.
The dialogue was absolutely terrible and also cringe at times. I mean the Asian voice actors were TERRIBLE.
The storyline didn’t seem very memorable at all and seems like you would have to force your way through the cutscenes.
Combat was nice with the black guy. His leg kick was awesome.
In the hour or so I watched it seemed like there wasn’t very many high places parkour wise.

I dunno, I loved Odyssey and Origins and skipped Valhalla which seemed like the right move and nothing about this game really wants me to spend $70+ to play it. 1500s Japan is a beautiful setting but I’m not sure how well it works out for an Assassin’s Creed game. I mean going back to the originals, the main aspect of the franchise is climbing high up and doing awesome parkour jumps and this is just kinda bare feeling considering the setting. That along with the forced characters and bland story that I saw has me skipping this until a huge price drop and or game pass.

No, was just curious if we are still crying over a fictional character in a fictional video game

It absolutely can work. They just took the wrong direction. When you think of Japanese assassins hiding in the shadows you normally would immediately think of ninjas. Not big hulking samurai.

As for parkouring at heights, if you’ve ever played a tenchu game that’s basically what you do. If you can’t parkour through trees then that’s on the devs. They just needed to expand on previous games where you could go up onto tree branches. If you’ve ever seen Ninja Scroll you’d know what I’m talking about.

Lmao holy shite are you mad?

Would you like to delve into the AC canon? The same one who created "this narrative" right in front of your eyes?

quote:

Ezio- After his family died he dawned the robes of his father and went on a revenge quest to avenge his father and brothers. During his adventures he runs into his uncle and slowly joins the Brotherhood himself and becomes an assassin.

•Conner kenway- After his mother died and his village was burnt he went on a revenge quest where over the course of his adventures he was mentored by a former assassin where slowly overtime he learned the ways of the assassins thus becoming an assassin himself.

•Edward kenway- A pirate that stole a turncoat assassin's robes and posed as him until eventually making his own name for himself by becoming a fearsome pirate and during his adventures learned the tenets of the creed slowly becoming an assassin.

•Arno dorian- Basically ezio but french, but instead of avenging his original fathers death he avenged his foster father (shay frickin disappeared from the face of the earth i guess) where he had a bit of conflict with the assassins first but after losing everyone he cared about he realized what the creed meant and became a full fledged assassin.

•Shay P cormac- he Is a weird one, technically a established assassin for part of the game but then becomes a traitor and joins the templars assassinating the others because of what happened. If you want to really look at it like that then yes he is an assassin but ultimately kills the assassin's and arnos father cementing himself against the brotherhood.

Tell me how you haven't played this game without telling me

What point are you trying to make? You just posted main characters of previous games and every description ends with saying they are an assassin, but earlier you point out that yasuke “the hulking samurai” isn’t an assassin and are calling me a retard?

Of course I’m not playing this game. I’ve stated as much plenty on this board in the past. I’ve seen enough to know it’s not worth my time. But have fun though. Or don’t. Be sure and stream us your review later
