Damn I thought this was supposed to be a joke until looking it up. Something must be going on behind the scenes for a delay. I’m pretty sure every AC game has been released in November or late October. Even unity which was broken on release

They just admitted that Outlaws underperformed. That probably gave them pause with their marquee IP and want to make sure it's fully ready....per their statement.

They are LITERALLY the core audience for most every AAA game
If you alienate them, it will fail.
You can deny it
You can argue against it
You can hate that it's true
But it is just true.
And Ubisoft has had to learn the hard way that you shouldn't antagonize and/or alienate your key demographic.
Just ask Bud Light or Lucasfilms.

Seriously, though. This means Ubisoft is in deep financial shite. Didn't they say at the last shareholder meeting that they needed Outlaws and Shadows to dominate?
Could Ubisoft be on the verge of bankruptcy? I hope not.

Simple answer is Outlaws made them panic, and with stock issues and bad press, Shadows has to be a big hit. They typically release these games with a bit of jank and just fix it along the way. They can't afford that.
Releasing it in February....maybe that was intentional. Maybe a big F I to the incels. Minor talking point in the big discussion.
Day 1 on Steam is interesting. Most people are celebrating that decision, not mocking it, but it's a decision for sure. We've seen Microsoft and SE push towards multi platform launches mainly because making money is pretty key. Makes sense for Ubisoft, who's not in great shape, so launch on as many platforms as possible.

Pretty sure I posted about it earlier in the thread, but it was more like they were confident in their expected sales numbers because this and outlaws were two of the most anticipated games of the year

Every pre-release hype video they’ve put out has been shredded by streamers and YouTubers pointing out every graphical glitch they see. Which has been a lot, and it’s sad that those even make it into these trailers
