I see that it's free on PS plus. The original version was my favorite FF game and maybe the last FF game I played.

Just wait until the final Chapter gets released on the PlayStation 12.

I had a lot of fun with it, if you liked the original, I think you should give it a shot.

I enjoyed it. Its very narrative focused and not really open world as some might expect.

Was my favorite game I played last year, but I am a bit biased. Prob spent 100 hours between Normal and Hard mode on NG+. Got the platinum too. It just really clicked for me, but it's def not for everyone.

What needs to happen is a full console FFIV remake. Best story and music,

Cecil/Rosa/Kain/Rydia/Edge = GOAT FF party

I liked it, just not a fan of a few of the story changes

I really enjoyed it, lots of fun, great cutscenes and voice acting. Definitely worth playing.

I didn't like the padding sections; there were short areas in the original that they turned into full-blown dungeons in the remake to make the game longer. I went in expecting that and still didn't like it.

Still one of my favorite games in a long time.

Wasn't impressed with it. I didn't like the battle system. I only played the first part though, I may give it another shot.

I thought it was a good game, and I enjoyed it, but I wasn't a big fan of the battle system either. It was ok just not a huge fan of action RPG stuff. I love turn based, or atb, battles and have hated that is no longer a thing in FF games.

The game is worth playing though, especially with it being "free."

Midgar in the original wasn't exactly open word either.

The original wasn't really open world either until you get out of Midgar. I'd think that part 2 of the remake would be more of a true open world.

FFVI would be pretty awesome too.

I really enjoyed it. It’s even better the second time when I played hard mode.

From what I can tell the people who didn’t enjoy it are older players with a lot of loyalty to the old games and turn based combat.

true but since the whole game was set in Midgar I expected more openness and things to do. Still enjoyed it tho

Tough question.

The game is a good but flawed game on it's own.

But if you care about the OG the new plot may be very sour for you as it was for me.

Then again the new plot stuff is just silly on it's own.

None of the OG FFs were open world.

An overworld you can fight random battles on doesn't exactly make it open. in my opinion.

It’s pretty great imo and the general consensus is that it’s good.

Some will not like the story changes without having any knowledge of how it’s going to tie into the rest of the game. A lot of these people also don’t realize the amount of things and content left out of the original due to hardware handcuffs. Now that the hardware can handle the vision...we may actually get the game they wanted to produce in the first place. Good or bad? Time will tell.

They hit all the highs...even elevate some of those moments. For example the train graveyard. I think the remake elevates this vs the original. Honey bee...elevated. Midgar as a whole....elevated. Combat is great and I feel they finally hit the new/old combo they have been looking for. Soundtrack is well....phenomenal. More character background was really cool.
