I’ve probably sunk 10 hours into it and feel like I haven’t even really started progressing at all. Calling it a big game is an understatement.

Depending on how many sidequests you do, between 100-200 hours. It's a massive game

My only gripe about this game is you can only have 2 playthroughs. After i finished the second and realized that was it i was fricking pissed.

If you don't do side missions you'll miss out on the romance options, the Bloody Baron sidequest, and so much more.

I fricked up the romance I think. Maybe I can still get with yen in blood and wine. I’m doing it now at level 26 and it’s a blast since now the enemies are super difficult I feel like I’m playing dark souls

Just looked at my Steam account and I have 229.1 hours, though probably ~15-20 of that could be 'pause screen' time where I had to run away for a while before I could get back to it or close it. That's with all the DLCs as Steam had it all on sale for ~$15 and I couldn't pass it up. Masterpiece of a game. Even most of the side quests are well done. I think I did the main quest before going to the two DLCs, but I think you could theoretically do them mid game. They have a character level they recommend before going to them.

I just played/beat it earlier this year, I figure I'll give it a year or two and do another play through so if you count that it would probably be 350+. If you're only talking main story, skipping side quests and such, you could probably still get a solid 60hrs. Really, though, you should get the DLCs, the game is old enough that they'll go on sale to where you should be able to pick them up for cheap if you keep your eye out.

What level should I be before I try and fight the griffin near the beginning of the game? I’m level 3 and just going around trying to check out all of the question marks on the map and complete side quests. Any advice on how to best spend ability points early on so I don’t screw up my build?

If you like using magic focus ability points on magic...if you like melee focus on melee.

Do all the sidequests in that first area before fighting griffin.

Play Gwent and buy all the cards you can in that first area.

I always use this site to see how long people are taking to finish the main

51 hours for main story, 172 for completionist, 32 hours for a rushed play through.
