With any of the AC games, the Ubisoft launcher will show you game stats along with how many people you've killed. Always kind of blows my mind

Not really. Most of the "woke" stuff in video games is just nonsense.
Like they had a "trans woman" in Cyberpunk 2077, but you wouldn't know it because this only comes out in a throwaway line so they could easily remove it in other countries. Even if you go along with the idea that the character is a "trans woman," it works because he's a complete psychopath who wants to murder someone because his lover died in a car race. The correct solution to that is that your character comes to the realization that this person is awful...which I totally agree with because he's parading around as a woman.
Most of the time it's so subtle that you wouldn't even know it until someone writes an article about it. Who cares? Congrats, you added some wokeness to your video game that no one would possibly know about if this random online magazine no one reads hadn't written about it.
In this case, the developers clearly want to highlight the fact that you can seduce a druid bear (haha, he's a "bear" teeheehee see what we did there?) to the point that they highlighted this on stage at a live event. That's a bridge too far for me.

I mean, let him decide what he wants to play or not, it's whatever. Bear sex, as stupid as that sounds, is not really something I feel I have to make a statement on in terms of "this is just wrong" because it's too bizarre and almost funny. And again, I can ignore it altogether. If it was sex with a minor or rape, even if I didn't have to do it, I'd take issue with it even being in the game.

I don’t think anyone is criticizing him for not wanting to play the game. I sure as hell am not going to be playing it. I’m specifically poking at his comment about this is where he draws the line. It’s fricking hilarious to me

It's because I just discovered Final Fantasy for myself and have about 120 games in that series to play
Same with Zelda - have about 10-12 of those to play after playing my first when BOTW came out.
Same with FromSoft - still have Sekiro to play plus the Armored Core that will be out at some point
Because I only ever played sports games, fighting games, racing games, and platformers for the first 30 years of my life, I have a lot of catching up to do
