This will break all records regardless of price. The anticipation and expectations are incredible and rockstar has never delivered a dud. I’m buying up take two stock while it’s down, this thing will be printing money for the next 10-15 years

CIV VII is $69, the Deluxe edition is $99, the Settlers edition is $119. It came out a year ago, and has mixed reviews. The max discount has gotten the base game down to $39.

I'll wait until it gets below $25. Like GTA6, I don't care if it takes 5 years.

GTA nobody even paid attention to GTA online for the first year. It was probably three years before it got really popular. As soon as it took off, the vehicle prices skyrocketed and it became a grind fest.

RDR2 was real popular straight out of the gate. When they started apologizing for the KKK even though they were bad guys marked its peak. The monitization got worse than GTA when they created split currency that required purchases. Online was officially dead within two years when they started banning even silly stuff like naming your horse anything related to Sarah Jessica Parker.

I suspect GTA6 will follow the RDR path. Everyone will play it at release…but the narrative will be extremely toned down and the lobby moderation for the modern snowflakes will get old really fast. $99 shark cards certainly won’t have the same shelf life as the current game.

I just wonder to what lengths they will go to hide involvement of whatever equivalent of Sweet Baby, Inc or Anita Sarkeesian they used for their woke cover.

It's a double hit because they had to pay the consultant (I mean, 2014 to now there have been a lot of cycles of #Woke and #Notwoke) a shite ton and now they're going to have to pay them to shut up about it.

(Having said that, any #Wokebacklash will not prevent the game from being a success, but we're talking about multiple billions of dollars. This isn't just any AAA game. It's THE AAA game. It's almost a proxy for the gaming industry itself.)

Speaking from a pure economics standpoint, it has headwinds. GTA is the most profitable game on earth…and it’s about to be replaced by GTA. Just to get net-even the new GTA needs to earn as much as they’re about to lose by replacing old GTA.

The shark cards are going to be worse than mobile gaming progression. The people willing to pay into that economy expect to be allowed to be as terrible as imagination limits. Take Two has put the breaks on that behavior particularly on consoles.

There’s no argument it will probably have something close to a 1:1 console to purchase for the story mode. But given the change in toxic tolerance, it won’t have people paying thousands of dollars on shark cards, that will subsequently be willing to repurchase and start over 12 months later once the PC version is available. Let alone purchase new accounts after getting AI banned for using hurtful language in the lobbies. AI lobby policing is what will ultimately suffocate the life out of the game.
