Also in this update, some event rewards have been adjusted. I wanted to also explain the reasons for it and our plans going forward. In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions. At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices. I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again. We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this. It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game. We would really appreciate it if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view. Kazunori Yamauchi

yeah it’s blowing up on the subreddit

They nerfed credit earning rate by about 30-50%. Players were playing the exact same race over and over again to earn credits, so that’s what he’s referencing when he says he wants to avoid a repetitive experience. The math works out to about 750,000 credits per hour if you play the exact same race over and over again.

But those are still the only viable ways to earn the credits so all they’ve really done is pushed micro transactions without any content update yet from what I understand

Supposedly there’s a camera replay of a gold race you can watch for angles, braking etc.. may help

i think it's being blown out of proportion personally. it's still an awesome game worth the price.

Kind of this.

Personally, I've had no issues getting credits all this week since the patch. I'm grinding through the cafe menus (up to Menu 33 now) and I havent run into a situation really where I spent more credits than I earned in a day. Now I havent gone out of my way to buy expensive cars, literally just did bare minimum to grind out the cafe menus which I already had acquired a car in most cases to do finish the menus...I think I've gone out and bought maybe 2 cars total?

Now I did start with 1.1 million credits with the 25th anniversary edition, but I've never gone below 1.1 million either. I'm up to about 1.9 million right now after going through 32 of the cafe menus, often not even getting clean race bonuses.

I will say the amount they cut the credits by in some races seemed extreme for those people who do want to grind out credits to buy expensive cars...and some of the cars costing 18 million credits is just laughable. It was a near perfect game IMO that they are now trying to clearly rake in as money as they can on now knowing it's popularity. Not sure if it will backfire or people will just continue to play the game, but count me in the continue to play the game category.

I do think it's silly we cant at least sell our cars for credits, especially if you get a duplicate. They want to talk about the game being as realistic as possible which is why some cars cost such absurd amounts but you cant sell a car for credits? Doesn't make much sense there.

I will say one of the most frustrating things was I was trying to get Gold on the A-8 license test with the Tundra in the dirt BEFORE they patched the issue where you were on comfort tires not dirt tires. I probably tried for 30-40 minutes straight, got my time all the way down to like 19.6xx (19.5 or lower for Gold), then was like HOW THE FK DO YOU GET GOLD ON THIS, google searched and found out there was a bug where it put you on comfort tires instead of dirt ...did actually find out it's POSSIBLE to get gold on the comfort tires that test but I watched a GT pro do it over the course of like an hour and a half it took him.

they heard the people angry about microtransactions and credits, big blog post LINK

quote:

thank you for your continued support and feedback on Gran with our patch updates which resulted in, not only a server outage but also adjustments to the in-game economy which were made without a clear explanation to our community.

We know that this is not the Gran Turismo experience you expect and we will be making a goodwill gesture in the form of a non-paid credit pack of 1 million Cr. available to those players who may have been affected*. You will see this hit your accounts shortly. Make sure you log into the game before April 25 to claim the credits.

The patch update previously deployed was intended to rectify an issue with inconsistent reward payouts within a part of the World Circuit Events. But, to re-establish the intended equilibrium and provide more accurate rewards based on time investment and completion, it was necessary to recalculate the rewards system as a whole.

To improve the player experience, we will be rolling out a considerable patch in the beginning of April. The number of events will be increased, and we will reestablish the reward system with greater balance throughout the game to benefit all players.

Updates which will come into effect beginning of April:

Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
Increase of rewards in Online Races.
Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.
Beyond this there will be a few additional patches deployed between now and the end of April which will add new cars and course layouts and make some other fixes.

Finally, we also want to take the opportunity to lay out some of the near-term updates we are working on. We can’t confirm an exact date or specifics yet, but will give advance notice via www.gran-turismo.com.

Increase the payout value of limited time rewards as we develop as a live service.
Further World Circuit event additions.
Addition of Endurance Races to Missions including 24-hour races.
Addition of Online Time Trials and awarding of rewards according to the player’s difference with the top ranked time.
Make it so cars can be sold.

I was reading the subreddit and some dude posted that if you change your system settings -> time to just prior to midnight in another part of the world you can get extra daily workouts

It actually worked

Finally made it to the truck races and kept thinking my truck needed a “come and take it” sticker along with a pair of boots wedged between the bed and cab.

I have been enjoying the game very much. I have a bunch of really interesting cars to drive and have a bout 3.4 million credits after launch package and 1 mil payout. I feel like all of the complaining is another example of young people demanding everything they want instantly. I agree that some pricing is imbalanced but I will be one to relish the opportunity to save for a very long time to ultimately buy that one dream car. Not “all the dream cars right now because I paid for the game”. I bought a GT3 RS that’s a blast to drive. I try to play as much as I can without traction control just to put it in perspective of how to control a powerful car. Only thing I would like to do is sell cars that don’t mean much to me.

I'm on menu book #38 [Ferrari collection] now (so almost done) and have $3.2 million credits, so still not having any problems getting credits, and I'm just going through the menu books, not grinding or anything...and I OFTEN do not get the 50% clean race bonuses.

I hope in April they add more menu books, really enjoy the gameplay through them. A little worried what I'll do after completing #39, I guess the missions section i havent really touched.

That's the same wheel and pedal setup I've got. Mine is mounted on a Playseat racing seat as well. Makes the game an absolute blast to play.

After the cafe is done there isn’t much to do in the game which is a disappointment. Hopefully they release some new content soon. It’s hard to get motivated to do the same few races for 30-50k credits per race

There are literally no events for any of the high tier cars. I have like 10 cars that have zero events I can use them in
