What about 2 games?

Caved on PS4 because of Last of Us and Resident 7. Probably going to grab the VR before playing 7.

That will tide me over until Vive Rev 2 hits. Then of course I do need a 1080ti.

Switch & Zelda is the only time I've done this. That said, I've had a lot of fun with Mario Kart. And the Mario Odyssey trailer was really impressive so I think I'll get that as well.

Got a switch for this coming year. I'll be damned if the Switch has some super solid games coming out this year and early next year.

shite, I bought a Wii U just because of the first fricking BOTW teaser trailer  What a fail that was

That was one of very few reasons I bought a Wii U. In the end, I'm kind of glad I did. I was able to get BotW on day one without having to get the Switch, and I can hold off on actually buying a Switch until more games come out... and it looks like that might be the right move considering how tough it is to find a Switch. I thought those out-of-stock threads were an exaggeration, but I've done some preliminary searching and it really is a pain to find one.

Got NES, Sega Genesis, and N64 all as gifts and not for specific games. I was also a kid at the time.

I got a PS1 specifically for college football. I want to say that I got NCAA football 2001 and NCAA Gamebreaker 01 at the same time and played the shite out of both.

I then got a PS2 for NCAA football 05 and GTA San Andreas. In 2009 I remember buying MLB the Show and determining that I would rather play the PS3 version and went and got a PS3 specifically for it. It didn't hurt that NCAA was coming out soon, but I pulled the trigger specifically for MLB.

Bought the WiiU for Mario 3D World but ended up getting other various Nintendo properties (Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, WindWaker).

Bought the Switch for BotW but also to have a mobile system for work travel (take about 2 international trips per year and at least 2 domestic).

Just bought a PS4 for a general gaming system but picked it over XBox b/c of MLB the Show. I'm now in full-on anticipation mode for RDR 2.

I'm always several years behind the cycle of new systems. The Switch is the first one that I got within a year of launch.

I replied to this thread thinking it was new and then found my near identical post on page 2.

Yes. I buy consoles for just 1-2 games every gen since PS3. (Excluding Nintendo, their 1st party games you can't get on PC)

When I was a kid I opted for the SNES because of Actraiser vs the Genesis. Got the Genesis later for Joe Montana Football.
