Games you don't know why you pushed off for so long
Posted by JetsetNuggs on 1/10/23 at 9:45 am30
I just started Witcher 3 with the next gen update after buying it on steam for $7 like 2 years ago.
I've had friends tell me for years that it's right up my alley and damn they were right. This game is incredible. Now it has me thinking of other greatness that I might've missed.
What's something you've completely overlooked?

Same for me with Witcher. I could never get over how it controlled. I hear the PS5 update added a alternative control setting so I might try to dive in again after I'm done with Valhalla.
And I guess to that AC Valhalla is one for me. The slower movement speed was a tough hill to climb and I honestly don't care for Eivor as a protagonist, but I switched over to the female version and my experience improved a lot, mainly because you can tell they spent a lot more time with her animations and character and the male version was just tacked on. He was so boring, emotionless, a robot.
I like how the quests are structured around the different regions, and the puzzle solving that comes with trying to get into houses or structures for treasure is pretty fun.

Valhalla is almost like the opposite for me. I picked it up and put it back down almost immediately.
I think they've gotten too far from what AC is. Hopefully Mirage brings it back to the way it used to be.

Big fan of the series and this game has never grabbed me. Like with Dishonored 2, the stealth doesn't make sense to me and that keeps pushing me away.
I'm sure I'll try it again at some point.

I have Batman Arkham series sitting in my library for years now, they seem to be good games. Not sure why ive never started them
Loved Asylum and City, have never made any real progress on Knight. The batmobile sections are awful and off putting for sure. IGN ranked Knight one of it's top 10 super hero games of all time (along with the other 2) so I feel I will go back to it eventually. Whenever I get that next Batman itch, I suppose.

I waited 4 years to play RDR2. No clue why. It's easily one of my favorite games ever.

Most of my library i havent started yet probably.
I never finished witcher 3 so need to start fresh with update. I bought RDR2 on steam sale and havent downloaded. Still need to finish no mans sky.
Im currently juggling an end of season grind to master on wild rift, DMZ mission farming 3-10 matches a night and doing a re play of Balders gate 2 with a mage heavy evil aligned party.
I'll get there eventually.

Played for like 30 hours, first PS5 game I’d purchased, and was so freaking bored. It was the same thing over and over again. Only AC I’ve ever enjoyed was Black Flag.
Put off Red Dead 2 for a couple years as well as Horizon. Enjoyed and sunk more than 100+ hours into both.

I just can't do it. I've probably tried 5 times to go back and it just doesn't hold my attention
Am I imagining it, or does RDR Online play a little more like a video game than the single player? A friend of mine is going to start playing with me soon and I swear it feels so much more fun navigating in the online version.

What was your issue with Dishonored 2? I very recently played clean hands/ghost playthroughs of 1 (with all DLC), 2, and Death of the Outsider, and I didn't have any issues with stealth.
The more I read on it, it seems that the stealth mechanics on Dishonored were, in a lot of people's opinion, way too easy. I absolutely love that game, but when I play 2 I feel like it's so easy to get spotted. It's such a struggle to sneak around. I feel like I have good cover and all of the sudden I have 3 people running at me. I play a lot of stealth games so I don't feel like a complete newb to it but Dishonored 2, so far, has frustrated the hell out of me.
Probably just missing something.

I'll note for the record that I played all of them on whatever they call the "normal" setting, so if you're a glutton for punishment and playing on higher settings, you likely just need to memorize enemy patterns. But, at Normal, stealth isn't all that different from 1, if maybe a little bit harder: get blink/far reach immediately and upgrade it asap, as well as get anything that increases jump height. Anytime you enter a space, look for opportunities to get elevation over your enemies. Their perception of anything above them is orders of magnitude worse than their perception of anything at eye level. In all three games, I spent as little time as possible standing on the ground.
