Clearly did.

And it is jarring when voice acted. It is one thing to see the written word, another to hear it. Hopefully he is dialed in and it is much better later on.

Knights of the Round is going to need its own disc.

Didn't even think about that, so many things that I am hoping to revisit in HD or even 4K.

1. Ruby/Emerald Weapon
2. Gold Saucer (and can I get a date with Barret?)
3. Highwind
4. Chocobos
5. Wutai
6. Cosmo Canyon
7. Crashed Gelnika
8. Junon Harbor

.
At first i had the same feeling you did but then I remembered Barrets dialogue in the original is completely over the top and irrational yelling, they nailed it here.

Just shows you that a lot of material and content is going to be upgraded to express and reflect the leap in technology. Going to be really interesting to see how many things it makes better and makes worse.

I'll tell you this, this opening scene with the classic FF theme on the title screen, and then opening cinematic from Aerith to the Epic FF7 logo and sound to the train just pulled emotion from me

I'm going to play it again tonight just to remind myself this is really happening

It makes sense, but it's something that I'll always say incorrectly, out of habit. Just like I'll always refer to her as Aeris, not Aerith.

Pretty sure I've heard it pronounced "Mahko" in the the spin off material so the fact that this is blowing people's mind is amusing to me

If anyone had ever seen Advent Children back in 2005 you should be aware of how it is pronounced. I'm pretty sure that was the first piece of FFVII media that had voice actors for the characters.

I was enjoying the combat until I got to the scorpion robot. That fight dragged on and on then everything that wasn't a soldier enemy soaked up damage like a sponge.

I've seen a lot of people say they had trouble with the scorpion tank but I had zero issues with it. I used Barrett primarily to get it staggered using thunder and his triangle ability, then when it's staggered switched to Cloud and went HAM with his abilities and his triangle ability. Had to potion a couple of times but it seemed like a pretty standard boss battle.

I really enjoyed the combat system but it might have helped that I went into the demo with almost no preconceived notions about final fantasy having never played any of them substantially.
I played maybe 10 hours of FFX before it got to a part where it crashed constantly because the disk was fricked up.

Went back and played it on normal.
Extremely easy and it does not take long if you understand how to use the ATB correctly. It is a tutorial boss, it should get tougher.

I pretty much would not have liked the combat no matter what going in. The classic mode sounded great but it's dumb in practice. Impossible to pull off with a stagger/ATB boost on basic hit system.

But with that said. 8000 times better than that abortion of a combat system from 15.

It's only long if your not staggering it quickly. I can definitely see how the stagger mechanic will determine how much you enjoy the combat though.

Yup. And that system is just not very welcoming to the "clasic mode". Probably why they default "classic" to easy setting.

This is what I wanted to hear. I had resigned myself to playing on classic mode but it looks like I'll have to try out the new system.

I'll have to try classic mode tonight, I just played it in the default mode. Is classic mode turn based?

EDIT: just watched a YouTube video of classic mode, doesn't really seem like my cup of tea. I think it would kinda feel like you're taking a backseat to the actual gameplay. It's a shame because it would really be cool to have the old turn based system with the updated graphics.

It defaults even your controlled character to auto attack/defend/dodge . So you only have to worry about using the ATB commands. Problem with it is the ATB fills up slow as hell because the AI is just not going to land as many attacks as you do in the default mode.

Here is a clip of somebody taking no damage. How the stagger and ATB is supposed to be used.

Yo that was sick. I’ll admit I struggled with it(combat) for my first run through. There seemed to be a lot going on. Not that I didn’t like it...but it is going to take some getting used to.

The combat is definitely going to take me a bit to get used to but I enjoyed it. I think I might hold off for the PS5 version.

I do have a ps4, but I'm thinking I'll wait too.

If there are any bugs, they should be worked out by the time ps5 launches. And my memory is so fricking full on my ps4... damn you ARK

I sucked the first time around. Going to do another playthrough this weekend. I burned through 20 potions against the last boss. Not good.
