Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Trailer

Pre-ordering that collector's edition tomorrow

Man 2 discs in this age makes me think this is going to be one massive game. Very excited for this one.

Opening cutscene of the trailer appears to show what is likely Zack's timeline. I think the theories about this game trilogy actually being a sequel and not actually a "remake" per se, might just be correct.

What with all we've seen this far and the Chapter 18 Remake ending, they can pretty much go anywhere with this thing. With 20 years to think about it, I really don't think Nomura and SE are going to disappoint in bringing it all together masterfully.

I'm just on the moon right now. SE giving me Octopath Traveler 2, then FFXVI later this month and then Rebirth in early '24, I'm gonna live in RPG heaven for a while.

what? Nomura is a complete hack when it comes to writing Everything he touches turns to a convoluted mess.

Hate the direction this is going. Just remake the frickin game with modern graphics and gameplay

Exactly.

The trailer was kind of funny to me. It only showed stuff that looked almost exact to how the OG games story went.

But we all know Nomura will have crazy shite that does not follow that. At least the ghost time cops are dead.

I thought 7R was a 10/10 game.

I already know how 7 ends. Everybody knows how 7 ends.

I don’t care if it follows the story every step of the way or brings a nostalgic and “fresh” twist to it.

I won’t be mad if they find away to prevent a death etc…

The story could end up a sucky mess…or it could okay…or it could be great…

That is yet to be determined and I get the concerns but if I want to play FF7 for story..I’d just play the original.

Pretty sure Vincent says a line in the trailer. The only voice we havent heard before that says something about Hojo. Idk anyone else that would have a deep voice that is a new cast member invested in Hojo.

Square got absolutely roasted for spoiling so much of part 1 (or remake) in the trailers and rightly so. I seriously doubt he is talking about Tifa and its an obvious fake out. Its very likely he is talking about Aerith probably trying to play on some kind of flash forward they established Cloud having as well as establishing Aerith to be directly positioned against Sephiroth as having some sort of outside knowledge no one else is privy to. I am not saying they wont change anything I definitely think they will at the very least dramatically shift the order things are seen like I dont expect rocket town or Cid until part 3 mostly because he is our way to getting to highwind I am just saying that Tifas positioning in the trailer seems like a clear red herring. Her entire character is predicated on her vulnerability of not wanting to lose Cloud because she did once as a kid and feels he is the only one she can trust it would a be pretty severe butchering to take her character too far into this direction.

I was holding out hope he was playing mind games with Cloud.

Or was he talking about Aerith? The voiceover at that particular cutscene struck me as deliberately misleading the moment I saw it. SE would definitely do that just to keep people guessing.

Plus, in the first teaser they released, you can hear Aerith's voice say something like, "so you think I'm some kind of imposter?" Combine that with the current teaser and Sephiroth talking about Jenova saying "they say she can look into your soul, become the ones you hate and the ones you love", and it possibly sets up an underlying theme of wondering whether the current incarnation of Aerith is actually, Aerith or if Tifa is actually Tifa (if that's the route they're going).

Just a straight play by play remake of the original FFVII would've been exciting for newcomers but not so much for us old school veterans who have played the original many times. I like the changes.
