Flipping the scoreboard on Space Invaders on Atari 2600. 999,999 back to 0 without dying. Hitting Stage 100 on Galaga at the arcade only died once. Think I got to stage 120 or so? I don't remember, just that a crowd was around and cheered me on. I was 7 years old I think. 1981 maybe?

Finally beating TLOZ. No guide, no internet. Me and my best friend used notebook paper to make a map of each screen with notes to help us figure out where to go. Took us a whole summer to beat it.

Buying a PS1 and a copy of MGS. Wife was pissed I spent money on stupid video games. Then she sat there and watched me play about 15 straight hours until I beat it. Ate popcorn, drank soda straight from a 2-liter. We both loved that game.

I remember my friend telling me about this game where you have get to a part where a sniper is attacking you and you have to backtrack through where you had just been to find one. At the time, I had never heard of anything like this. Couldn't wait to play it. Wasn't disappointed.

So many memories, but my best one would have to be playing Metroid Prime for the first time. I literally couldn't put that damn controller down, I was so freaking hooked on that game. Probably more than any other game ever.

Believe it or not I stopped playing for this one, but it was the night the Zek server took down the Sleeper in EQ (before the mods fricked it up.) The Rathe server had a cross server chat channels posting what was going on.

2nd would be the night my WoW guild cleared Molten Core and then half of the old Zul Gurub in one night.

don't usually post over here, but i can't believe no one has mention RuneScape yet! That is easily no doubt the most fun I've ever had with a video game, followed closely by cod4 overgrown search & destroy.

By generation:

Home sick from school with my Dad watching him almost beat Super Mario, then me wasting all the remaining lives when he stopped to take a phone call.

On Genesis,NBA JAM TE Secret characters, Mortal Kombat II, scoring 100 points in a game with Reggie Miller in NBA Live 95, playing against my Dad in Madden 94. Probably forgetting some things here...

On N64, Christmas morning on OoT making my way through the Deku Tree, THPS1 multi player all night at a friend's birthday, goldeneye facility level just being amazed you could die by shooting those tanks in that side room, playing Banjo Kazooie at Wal Mart on the demo unit, all those great THQ produced wrestling games.

On PS2 and Xbox, Christmas morning my Dad and I being amazed at the graphics on NCAA Football 2001, playing GTA3 until I literally had dreams about it and had to stop playing, GTA San Andreas just being amazingly huge with so much to do, trolling in BF2 online matches. Halo 2 8 player matches with a couple of systems and TVs.

On 360, getting addicted to FIFA, halo 4 multi player, playing obscene amounts of MW2 in the semester I had off before grad school, some amazing last second wins in an online franchise on NCAA.

Xbone, only had it for a few weeks, nothing yet...

Wall kicks will work - First time I ever played n64.

Honorable mentions

walking out onto hyrule field ocarina

World 2 on super Mario world, first time I got the cape, with yoshi...that sound when you get the feather

so many things in goldeneye. First level, figuring out how to escape the train, beating certain levels on highest difficulty before the target time elapsed

goldeneye

My brother bought a N64 and I never really messed with it. He got Goldeneye and I was whatever (never was a big James Bond fan) until he showed me the MP. I kid you not, we spent like 2 hours playing slappers only until we decided guns might be more fun.

Golden gun was a favorite. Prox mines had to be banned because we learned the spawn rotations and it was brutal/fun to watch someone die like 5 times in a row after mines had been planted.

We played with the honor system. No mining spawn locations, no looking at the other players screen
