You can talk about how much it's like the other Far Cry games in the other thread. This one is for those playing it and hopefully enjoying it. I'm only an hour in, but.......

WE CAN RIDE HORSES!!!!!!

Not sure I'm big on horse riding in a 1st person view but I supposes I'll get used to it. I almost killed the thing before I A) realized it wasn't a cow, and B) had a saddle on it.

The Borderlands title cards for each character you meet made me roll my eyes at first, but at least they aren't super over the top.

That gator is something else.

I am about 2 hours in and getting tired of it already. I enjoyed 5 but this just feels off. Story is not very good and already repetitive.

I've played for about 5+ hours now, and so far, it feels like the skeleton of Far Cry 5 with the campaign of a Far cry 3 or 4, which I feel is a pretty good combination. There's more meat to the actual campaign, but the discovery aspects of 5 are still there.

It does seem to have taken some queues from New Dawn such as different enemies/weapons having levels. A mismatch in gun/enemy level results in you having to pump 4-5 sniper rifle shots into an enemy (not heavy armored) to kill, and I just do not understand Ubisoft's instance in trying to turn every game into an ARPG.

That and you can no longer pick up weapons when you kill enemies which is just laughable.

The game is not great

I am not looking for a fricking billboard to take a damn outpost

Losing an enemy helicopter is like getting rid of herpes

I do like Wapo (sic)

In past games I was a game hunting, tower climbing, loot everthing machine. But in this one I am only following the main story.

BTW I am 15 hours in.

Use explosive ammo

Yes, the ammo system in this game is really dumb as is the GTA inspired "wanted" level

With AC and Far Cry, Ubisoft hasn't heard the phrase if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I'm an hour and a half in and I think it's fine. The shooting seems better than 5. Other than the open world and taking out the checkpoints (instead of outposts), this really feels like a new experience. Setting is what I'm more used to with Far Cry games.

Why does it take half a mag to kill one person?

Depends on the enemy. Some require heavier rounds to take down. A lot of them I'm dropping with one well placed head shot.

Yeah, well-aimed headshots are fine. It’s the panic where it’s like WTF these dudes are invincible

this site explains it better

quote:

Far Cry 6 offers plenty of different ways to inflict damage upon Dani's enemies. Almost every weapon in the game can be outfitted to use one of six different ammo types:

Standard Rounds - standard military grade ammo, no pros or cons.
Soft Target Rounds - high damage vs unarmoured, low damage vs armoured.
Armor Piercing Rounds - high velocity, high damage vs armoured.
Poison Rounds - low damage, deals poison damage over time.
Blast Rounds - high damage vs vehicles, low damage vs everything else.
Incendiary Rounds - low damage but lights target(s) on fire, dealing damage over time.

In addition, every enemy in the game is vulnerable to a certain damage type, and you can see a handy infographic of which ammo to use on which enemy type taped onto the Workbenches that are scattered throughout the world of Far Cry 6 where you can modify your weapons using Gunpowder.

You can also use your Phone to scan enemies, letting you know what ammo type is effective against them, along with what type of damage they will inflict upon you. You can therefore use this information for defense as well as offence, by equipping gear that specifically resists the damage type of the enemies you are about to face.

quote:

There's really no "best" damage type to use in Far Cry 6. It's a rock paper scissors system, where everything is strong against some enemies and weak against other enemies. Having said that, Soft Target Rounds and Armor Piercing Rounds are two ammo types you should pick up as quickly as possible, because they'll help you deal fairly well with the majority of foot soldiers in the game.

Poison, Blast, and Incendiary Rounds all have low base damage, but they're very powerful against the correct foes - and they'll also stun, distract, or even incapacitate many enemies for a moment, making up for their weak damage. Poison Rounds are particularly fun, because an enemy afflicted with poison damage may lose their minds for a short time and attack their allies. What's more, the poison is very flammable, so inflicting poison damage and then switching to an incendiary weapon is a very effective combo against many enemy types.

I highly recommend you get at least one weapon for every ammo type as early on as possible, so that you can deal with any threat you come across. You can also go into your Arsenal screen and switch weapons on the fly even during a fight (the game is paused in this screen), so you can switch between all six damage types in the blink of an eye.

there's also a story mode

but yeah, it's stuff like this that they add in every game that makes me roll my eyes at the "another Far Cry" critique

Yeah that’s annoying. I have to switch weapons because of whatever type of enemy is engaging me? 5.56 or 7.62 hurts regardless

I run armor piercing on two slots and then I carry a grenade/rocket launcher for dirty jobs and armored vehicles.

May find a better solution in the future but it works well enough for now.

You can shoot pilots out of the cockpit on lighter choppers but heavy choppers take too fricking long.

A LMG with blast rounds is much more efficient for vehicles of all types.

Just started playing.
I've never played another Far Cry so I have nothing to compare to, but im enjoying it.
The amigos are fun. Chorizo I will die for.. but Guapo is the best I've gotten so far (10 hours in).

Bullet types don't matter with this special shotgun I found.. blast fire and murder death kill on site.

I also have found the bow and arrow is a one shot one kill to the head.

Helicopters are assholes... hopefully I find a rocket launcher soon.. till then I usually run to an outpost and use the mounted machine guns to level them.

I finished Far Cry 6 a week or so ago. My first FC game as well and had a great time. It did get repetitive with the checkpoints and military bases though. And the weird tranny storyline was the worst part of the story (not because of the tranny but in general).

Regarding the amigos, just wait til you get the panther lol.

I was always impressed with how fast Guapo got around.
