I just love when they refer to him as “doom guy”. I just think that’s so funny for some reason.

Yes even though it makes no real sense, it's heavily implied in both games that the Slayer is the Marine from the first two Doom games. Only now he's been enhanced with all those extra otherworldly skills and powers.

DOOM Eternal Screen Flickering has been reported by some PC players. Here's how to fix the issue.

Some PC users have screen flickering issues when playing DOOM Eternal after updating their Nvidia GeForce drivers to the newest 445.75 version. The screen will flicker during sequences of the game where there is a lot of action happening, specifically after Glory Kills.

The issue here is with the drivers on Nvidia graphics card. They recently rolled out a new driver update meant for optimization with Half-Life: Alyx, which is when players started having problems in Doom Eternal.

For anyone playing on PC with an nVidia card, the lastest driver 445.75 released for HL: Alyx fckked up the only 2 day old game ready DOOM Eternal driver 442.74.

You have 2 options, roll back from 445.75 to 442.74 GOOD DRIVER or try the hotfix driver 445.78 HOTFIX HERE.

I tried the hotfix last night and I still have the flickering that came with 445.75. So I suggest the just rolling back to 442.74.

Wtf doom 1 and 2 are not very scary at all.

The new doom games are a response to all the criticism doom 3 got for being so slow and more horror based

They weren't intended to be explicitly scary but sometimes were anyway. Dark corridors, spooky environments, traps and ambushes, a few levels did use creepy atmospheric music rather than jams.

The first time I beat him it felt cheap because I had like 6 extra lives banked and went through almost all of them just suicide nuking him down. I went back later and beat him straight up on one life.

This was on a much lower difficulty but the only way I could do it was to use the rocket launcher lock on and avoid him, trying to stand and fight him wasn't working.

I'm planning on banking some lives and then just coming back and smoking him on Nightmare. The adds at that difficulty make the fight miserable. You get distracted for 1 second fighting them and you get 2-pieced by him.

I was on Nightmare the whole mission, no issues. Almost beat him too, but it was late, too tired. Switched to lowest and finished it.

I just hated the jump ropes. It was goofy.

That's one reason I can't play on nightmare, the deaths feel completely cheap and out of your control. The classic "tough but fair" idiom stops applying. The fodder enemies do like 40-50 damage per swipe and big guys basically nuke you from full to 1 HP in one hit. Given the frenetic, chaotic pace you have to run around to survive, not getting hit is as much luck as it is skill.

Regardless, there are people still doing it successfully.

you mean the whole game? the mission where you fight him is basically just walk and read Codex , I'd hope there were no issues

They had an arena in that mission right?

Yes, the whole game. I completed 3-4 missions on just Hurt Me Plenty, up until Mars, then started back at Earth replaying on Nightmare. Was fine up until that point.

The gladiator mission is just the gladiator fight, you gotta walk through a few hallways and there are various collectibles (1ups and codexs) but there are no fights besides the gladiator himself.

Was the only boss fight like that in the game though, all the other boss fights were at the end of a normal level.

Yeah, like 13pick up items. I enjoyed it.

Decided to try one of the Master Levels as they are called. Nothing noteworthy different about them at all, just much harder versions of the regular level. The enemy spawns are much tougher, lots more big demons in the waves. There are now BFG and Crucible charges throughout as well, where there were none before. No collectibles/secrets to collect.

Essentially just a stand alone "hard mode" version of the level

Can someone tell me where to go on level 3? I can’t seem to find where to jump to.

Look at the minimap, the platforms you can grab always show up. Also look for green lights. They subtly tell you where to go the entire game with green lights. There are a few green switches in that level you have to shoot to open gates as well.
