Some of the complaints I get, some of them are just insane. Like the platforming ones. Judging by the way some people are melting you'd swear 50% of the game was jumping around. The sections usually take like 15 seconds to complete and there's like maybe 2-3 a level.

I enjoy the platforming parts, if you even want to call them that. Holy shit, did people just want to literally shut their brains off when they played this? It’s got to be one of the most simple platforming games I’ve ever played - again, if you even want to call it that. It’s so minimal.

Exactly They’re over so quick. They’re in to break up the pace and let you cool down after the intense arena fights

Honestly, my biggest complaint so far is the size of the fricking text, which I believe was an issue in 2016. Why the frick do I need to bee 2 feet from the screen to read the hints?

You can change your UI scale to large if you need bigger numbers on your HUD

re: Doom Eternal Official Thread
Just re-read my post and realized it didn’t make any fricking sense due to typos.

Thanks I’ll check that out, but honestly I’m not sure that will help based on previous games that allowed larger UIs. I’ll check it out, though. Thanks

I'm only on level 4 but there are a lot more than that

re: Doom Eternal Official Thread
On the second to last level now, there are a some longer jumping puzzles on here, including a pretty tricky one where you gotta shoot a target in midair, maybe that's what's got everyone so pissy. I did it after maybe 5-6 tries, but maybe there are people stuck or something.

Regardless, the boss in this level is brutal, even on normal. The last few levels I've actually been hitting a stride, now that I'm fully upgraded and have gotten better at the combat but this bitch is ridiculous. You gotta land 6 blows on her and the best I've done so far is 4. Lots of quick deaths so you get can in lots of tries fast but sheesh. I've probably tried like 20-25 times. Taking a break for now.

There's this stupid arse "armor" you can activate after you fail so many times on bosses but I turned them even offering that shite off in the settings at the beginning because using that is pathetic.

"You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference."

Oh man if you think she’s bad just wait until the last boss battle. This game is so god damn hard in some places it’s ridiculous. Started on Ultra Violence then had to back it down to HMP after the third level. Now that my arsenal is fully upgraded will probably go back and finish every level on UV and start working on some slayer gates.

Really my only complaint is, like someone mentioned earlier, the tone of the game. There is just not nearly enough time spent in hell and a little too much time spent in the high fantasy environments.

I love the combat so I don’t really understand the complaints. You can still use the super shotgun (plus the ice bomb) to clear 90% of the enemies in the game. The most important part is just staying mobile and taking out enemies an an effective order.

Finally beat her.

yes the combat is awesome, I'm a million times better at it than I was. Def addicting

Agreed. I thought there was a decent amount of hell but way too much Argent places. That world is just boring and I think there are 3-4 missions there. They needed a few old school Doom style settings, like the Foundry from D16 for example.

You run out of ammo way too quickly.

SPOILERS

So is Samuel Hayden confirmed to be the Makyr Samir that gave the Doom guy his abilities since they both tell him: “take it. It will give you strength and aid you on your journey.” Besides the similarities in the names, Samuel constantly refers to humans as your people, not our people and he seems to know a lot of shite about hell and Argent Du Nor that a human wouldn’t know.

Also VEGA asks are some point if he is the father, so VEGA could be the Makyr version of God?

Like any doom game, you conserve your ammo because you do t know when you’ll have 15% health and 30 bullets left.

I like the new doom series.
I wish they’d have kept to the horror like in doom3.
Imho that was the best one out of them all.

Anyone else had trouble with the Micro Missles firing?

I understand the delayed vs spiked damage, np. But most of the time I couldn't get them to fire, also confused at the gun turning red randomly.

I'm soo confused by the heavy cannon.

I actually beat the final boss in my first try, without any extra lives. It's chaotic but the infinitely spawning crucible charges make it rather easy, compared to the 2nd to last boss. There also were alot of places to hide from the boss when things went south.

I almost died like 10 different times so on harder difficulties I'm sure it's a insane. Tanking damage isn't really a thing on harder difficulties so that forces different strategies.

Agree. Horror elements have always been a staple of Doom and this new series really hasn't embraced that, especially Eternal. Regardless outstanding game.

Agree with all of this. But Doom is definitely not a horror series lately, not since Doom 3 which I love.

re: Doom Eternal Official Thread
I played the multiplayer a little bit, or Battle Mode as they call it. It's essentially an asymmetrical fight, 1 Slayer vs 2 Demons. Slayer is more powerful, mobile, and can heal up a lot easier. Demons obviously have the numerical advantage and have to use a lot more strategy and coordination to win. Slayer is always the same, but there are 5 different demons to pick from and each demon has 2 different modes.

It's fun enough but gets boring pretty fast, after 4-5 matches I was like "meh" I have to assume they'll add more multiplayer functionality later.

I love the game, it does seem a lot of the changes have rubbed people the wrong way. Leading to a piss ton of differing opinions which is fine. But I think everyone can agree.

Yeah agreed. It was great as a boss fight but as normal mob it really disrupts normal flow. I think the main issue is how tanky he is. I can deal with having to position and time the shots perfectly, but he takes like what 12-14 super shotgun blasts? If they cut that in half he'd be a lot more fun.
