he's venturing off into the single player realm since the multiplayer games are lacking lately. he just recently finished up The Last of Us earlier this week.

I watched the stream for 10 minutes and I didn't see one second of actual gameplay. Just time-dragging dialogue.

I realize that was a small sample but it made me feel like the devs should have just made a movie instead of a game.

Have you played Until Dawn? Interactive movies are basically what these games are. There is a little exploration where you can gather supplies that might help or hurt your chance of survival, but those times when you actually control the character yourself are really just short moments to get you from one cut scene to the next.

Action sequences are QTE events. So even when your character is running for their life from a threat, you still arent controlling them directly.

So yeah, youre really just watching a movie where your decisions are what determines who lives and dies. It isnt for everyone.

I'll give you an non spoiler example of the type of choices you have to make. I am only a couple of hours in, so I dont know how this decision plays out: one of my characters comes across boxes of fireworks. Do you take them? I chose no. These are idiot kids trying to throw one last party, but as the gamer I know once night falls that shite will hit the fan. I figure fireworks would attract unnecessary attention for my group, so I chose not to give them fireworks to shoot off. But now I am kinda regretting it - those fireworks could maybe be used as a flare later in the game if there is help along the way trying to locate a character. Or it might not be crucial to the story at all since not every decision is a huge plot point. But I do know it will alter future cut scenes at some point later in the game, I am just not sure to what extent. But I might be in hour 10 and one of my characters dies a gruesome death because I didnt grab fireworks in the first 1.5 hours of the game and now he cant alert help. We'll see...

Now when you stack 100+ decisions like that from multiple characters points of view, to me it is fun to see how it plays out.

Not sure why you got down voted for giving a decent explanation on how the game plays.

Would you say there is more or less active interaction than a Telltale game?

More from what I’ve seen.

Telltale pretty much railroads you and a lot of the decisions are irrelevant.

Ex - The Game Of Thrones one will have you make tons of choices. Those are mostly irrelevant other than the online comparisons of what other people did on the same choice.

Most decisions in Until Dawn will have some effect, though it still depends on how other things play out.

Ex - What you choose at the start of the game when viewing someone’s significant other possibly cheating can influence the reaction on screen later, either in a decision resulting in one’s death or in the after-action at the end of the game when survivors are interviewed.

There are also possible QTEs where making the wrong decision will kill your character and the game continues on without them, such as accidentally setting off a boobytrap or opening a door where the bad guys turn out to be behind it and kill you. Telltale tends to force you to replay it until you survive instead unless that character MUST die for the story to continue, like in Game Of Thrones.

I played it but its entertaining but not as good as Until Dawn or the Dark Pictures games.

Wait till they price comes down, its not worth 70 bucks.

Yeah, I was shocked to see they were charging 70 dollars for this. I know this is a game you can play numerous times with all the different outcomes but still. 70 bucks is crazy.

$70?

Yeah, I’ll wait. I’ll probably end up with a free copy of this in Humble Choice in six months.

I probably watch 20 hours of various Let's Play(s) a week. They make great background filler while I work.

Holy shite this guy's personality is like a cheese grater to my soul.

I don't think any game is worth $70 when you can usually wait 3-6 months for the price to drop by half or more.
