With everything that's been going on with Bungie and Activision over the past few weeks, I think we might be looking at Activision terminating their contract with Bungie, buying the rights to Destiny, and handing it over to another one of their developers before the end of the year.
So I'd definitely say, not very optimistic about this.

Well they REALLY REALLY screwed up Destiny 2.
They finally perfected D1...
Then sold us back a worse stripped down base game version in D2 with all its loot logic built around lazy balancing and eververse.
NOW, they’re selling us back what we had in D1 and calling it “new”.
So many higher ups over there should have been fired 2 years ago.

I have a theory. The game at release was the game Activision wanted published, not what Bungie wanted to make. I doubt Bungie had much leverage. Over time, the feedback from gamers has told Activision their vision of Destiny doesn't work which has freed Bungie up to do what they wanted from the start.
