speculation is that new wall break AI cannot target the 4th layer of 4 layer wall defense layout. distance is too great to target.

Well some bases the only thing they put walls around is storages so that distance I could see.... They have to drop breakers a good distance and navigate through defense/mines/barracks/etc

i just hope there is balance. i'm worried the new wall breakers and Mr T riding a pig hopping walls isn't OP.
....it's never gonna happen.
i'mma be pissed if i log back in and my base is wrecked because my shield ran out during this 8 hour maintenance window.

You sure? This maintenance isn't effecting everyone? If so, then how can you be attacked. I'm pretty bummed because I was going to use the time my shield is up (after the raping my village took last night) to upgrade some defensive units.

It would suck if it took longer than a few seconds to repair your base. What if it cost resources? That would put a huge incentive on people attacking and defending. You can attack someone but if they get revenge and frick you up, you're screwed.
