I am buying a second copy on ps5 as well. I bought it digitally but I want to get a physical copy. They are sold out at a lot places at the moment though.

Yep.

As development costs increase, mass market appeal is emphasized and less creativity is allowed. Games begin to use all the same tropes and mechanics and all AAA games begin to fit the same mold

Why I’m shocked at the idea of free dlc.

I see ALOT of people saying it’s become their favorite game of all time. Beating the likes of Zelda’s, Red dead, BG3, FF, etc.

I will likely feel the same by the end of it. I was convinced Shadowbringers was for sure the last truly great RPG I’d ever play.

I enjoyed metaphor and persona 5 but I don’t like the calendar system. At all. But I enjoyed most everything else about those games. Octopath I enjoyed but it lacked in areas for me. I could continue down the list of other good RPG’s but they never lived up to my standard of FF7 - FFX. X being my ultimate standard.

Then I’m blindsided by this game. A game that takes tons of elements from all of the greats, even beyond the RPG genre, and delivers….it delivers it flawlessly.

I’m still in early ACT ll and I won’t say for sure until I beat the game because story is very important but it is the only game that ever been this close to taking my number 1 spot. So close that I’m having to restrain myself putting it #1 before I beat the damn thing.

What a wonderful and unexpected surprise it was and is to feel this way about a game again. To feel like a child again for a couple hours a day.

It’s not a complaint but more of a quality of life thing….but I’d love to be able to save certain builds for my characters. That’s literally it.

This is really good to hear. I think we view that period of FF very similarly. Can't wait to jump back on it tonight.

Game has been fantastic so far, I am 13 hours in. I'd say the only negatives thus far are the menus are a bit clunky to deal with and I find the platforming sections to be kinda meh. Otherwise, battle system is a ton of fun, story is super engaging (arguably the best RPG story I've played in many years), and the music/presentation is very well done. Feels like theft that I got this game for under $50

Also bros…I’m torn between keeping Lune or Monoco in the party.

I’ve got some fights in with him for obvious reasons though I do have more to collect.

I just haven’t quite figured out if he’s worth keeping. Briefly before stopping last night I did some trials with his shielding ability and I do think there is potential there…

What’s gets him cranking? I’m not necessarily talking dmg output but just overall party optimization.

I know l can get Lune to deal dmg…just is it worth the loss to keep monoco in? Or is he just situational?

No clue. I'll check them out. I don't keep up with music any more.

I don’t either. But it’s all she’s been listening too for the past couple of years and they just released some new stuff that I really actually liked. It’s different though.

I rotated people out and in of my party to keep everyone at the same level. When I got to the endgame my normal party would be Maelle, Lune, and Verso. But that was when I could break the damage cap

I finally jumped in today and i agree with your sentiment. Im fine with the platforming, my main issue is i seem like im running through these sections wayyy too fast and probably missing side stuff.

Man i need to hit the hay but i dont wanna put it down haha. Just got to stone wave caves

He has the best swimsuit in the game, so there's that.

You can really make Monoco any playstyle you want. I use him as a breaking machine and also for the ignore shields skill he can get, but he could also easy be a support character.

I currently use:
Contortioniste Blast - 6 ap - 1 physical hit to all enemies, heals party by 10%, extra damage in balanced
Ramasseur Bonk - 2 ap - this does very low damage to 1 target but fills 20% of break meter if used in agile, which is awesome for boss fights
Moissonneuse Vendage - 5 ap - high physical damage to 1 target, can break, extra damage in balanced
Bruler Bash - 4 ap - 3 medium physical hits to 1 target, can break, extra damage in caster
Glaise Earthquake - 4 ap - 3 medium earth damage attacks to all targets, applies powerful to self or to whole party if in heavy
Portier Crash - 8 ap - 1 high physical hit to all enemies, can break, extra damage in heavy

Will sub in Chevaliere Piercing for Moissonneuse Vendage if I'm going to be facing shielded enemies. It ignores shields and increased damage for each shield on the target, with increased damage in agile, 3 ap

I'm considering swapping in an attack that applies mark, but I don't have a lot of trouble keeping Mark applied right now so I'm on the fence.
