To start with, I had no idea there was even a first Chivalry before a friend recommended this hidden gem of a successor.

Gameplay video (the video does this game far more justice than can my mere words).

This is a massive medieval-themed team v team PVP game where you can have up to 64 participants in different types of matches (free prisoners, burn the village, deathmatch, etc). As players die they can be replaced by NPC's.

The game is available on PC, PS4/5, XBox1/S/X and they support cross-platform play.

One of my friends had me pick up the free beta and I actually bought the game too. I’ve been enjoying it honestly.

Be prepared to die a lot

I played I think 5 games last night. Next time I get on, i'm going to go back through the tutorials again, as I was having a lot of trouble countering attacks. I could block and dodge, but still struggled landing the counter blow.

Fun game, a little repetitive but really fun. Controls are tough to get used to, I mainly just heavy swing and block a lot.

Yea it won’t be a game I’ll probably play for like a 4-5 hour session, but if I just want to crush skulls for an hour here and there, it’s perfect.

I started to get the hang of some of the moves. Kicks are great for when people are blocking a lot. It briefly stuns them and gives you a free swing.

ETA. frick this game is hard. I don’t understand how people just land every hit while I’m blocking

I think it’s key to remember that a block works best by using your crosshairs to block and that it doesn’t block just all blows. The training said trying to hit their weak spots is important and will damage an opponent. This game BEGS to be in virtual reality by the way.

It's been up for me mostly. Had a lot of fun. My tip for people is to rely a lot more on stabs rather than swinging. I've had a lot more success with that.

Yea my takedowns have gone up immensely using the stabs more. The slashes I almost use as bait now. Give a few in a 1 v 1 and then kick and stab. Once you get the momentum on your side, it’s basically over against an average player.

So is it worth the $40? will I enjoy it more than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?
