This is surprising and encouraging. Zero percent chance I preorder this after cyberpunk though.

CDPR is a one hit wonder. Witcher 4 will be mediocre then someone will buy them and put them out of their misery.

They’re moving to unreal engine 5 and away from their in house engine that can largely be blamed for cyberpunk. For as amazing as Witcher 3 is that game was and still to this day is buggy as hell and it ran on the same engine as cyberpunk 5-6 years earlier. I trust this game to be good even though it’s probably 4-6 years away.

All three Witcher games fall into what I would classify as "Eurojank."

The second one oddly enough is probably the jankiest of the three as it was their first attempt at a western style action-RPG.

For better or worse, Cyperpunk felt a lot more like something that could've been made by UbiSoft or EA only it was buggy as shite

As long as CDPR sticks to a consistent vision for Witcher 4, I would be willing to at least give them the benefit of a doubt.

Witcher 3 was buggy, but it wasn't flat out broken.

Geralt's story couldn't have possibly been wrapped up better than it did in Blood and Wine.

The Last of Us already gave me a great game that wrapped up nicely and didn't need anything else added to it that was then retroactively tainted by the existence of its sequel, so I hope I don't have to go through that again.

That being said, loved TW3, so I have high expectations for this.

I think I've seen quotes from the studio heads saying they are done with Geralt. I agree that they should let the poor guy have his retirement.

If you watch the video in the link it claims it’ll be a new saga. So probably a new multi parter likely a trilogy with new protagonist. Although I think a ciri centric game after leaving Geralt at the end of Witcher 3 in the ending where she becomes a Witcher could be cool. Problem is she is the most powerful person in the lore the game wouldn’t be too thrilling. Her powers open up interesting story possibilities though.

Northern Realms with all the spies.

As an avid Magic: the Gathering player, it didn’t take long to recognize that gwent is also all about card advantage and removal.

The last of us 1 may have had a better story but 2 was a better game. 2 actually might be the best game I've ever played, although the witcher 3 is my favorite game ever

As the name implies, the sub-category of games that would come to be known as Eurojank primarily describes ridiculously ambitious games from Eastern European developers that punch well beyond their weight, albeit without the extra layer of polish that is usually afforded to genuine AAA titles.

Think of the Risen franchise, Two Worlds, Greedfall, etc.

I’d say they did a pretty good job still. If anything it makes it more impressive a small gaming studio like them pulled off a game like Witcher 3. It was buggy but so are plenty of large games these days. Personally I didn’t experience that many bugs in my 1st time 160 hour play through
