I didn’t have any performance issues on ps5 from day one either. I have seen many videos of jank from pc though.

Ah ok. Yea, I grew up as PC gaming was exploding so I learned that it was always kinda unreliable. Think that's why I'm always hesitant to buy a gaming rig. Might though!

PC gaming isn’t unreliable. PC ports of console games can be unreliable, though. And from what I gather, the PC port of ER wasn’t very good. Tons of stuttering issues, in particular.

Yeah, the stuttering was pretty noticeable in certain places. If memory serves, the capitol was a bad stutter spot.

I'm a huge Souls fan but some of this is correct - Mountaintop/Consecrated Snowfield are both far too empty compared to the earlier zones, and as usual, Fromsoft reskins shamelessly. There wasn't enough variety.
All in all, I did enjoy ER but Bloodborne is still their greatest achievement.
Also, I'll always be at least a little annoyed that the Demon's Souls remake is a far better looking game than Elden Ring.

Having watched a decent amount of gameplay, I think the art direction of ER is gorgeous, but I'm still genuinely surprised at some of the graphical compromises they chose to make. Case in point: I'm blown away that a 2022 AAA release has a third person PC that clips directly through foliage without affecting it in any way. Grass is one thing, but clipping through large bushes? That's immersion breaking at this point, in my opinion.
Example a few seconds after the bookmarked point in this youtube gameplay video: LINK
Now, by no means does that make it a bad game. But it takes some of the shine off for me.

I keep hearing about framerate and stuttering. I have been playing this on an Xbox s for two month and literally have not had any stuttering or lag or anything. Only issues I have had with it was some coop issues of disconnection. I wonder of some of these PC gamers experience that becuase they have other things running on their PC but my xbox is just playing that one game.

No issues with frame rate or stuttering on my ps5. About the only graphical issues I’ve seen is sometimes there’s some glitches with shadows in weird places. Most notably in the snow areas

The complaint about PC stuttering was too widespread to be that simple of a problem, and was likely just a flaw with the port. I personally know people with some serious gaming rigs who were complaining about micro stuttering.

I thought PC issues were fixed pretty soon after release.
There was definitely some death causing delays in the Cohh Carnage playthrough in his first few days but after the patch I didn't see him have any problems.
Then I bought the game and I've played 160 hours without many complaints. I don't think this one qualifies as a bad port. I think it just needed a few weeks more to optimize the game.
Having said that, I have a beefy system so folks with normal systems might have had more stuttering. I think I had 1 crash. I did see a few armor pieces with weapons clipping capes. you would think AAA companies would have finally fixed this problem, but they haven't.
I love large girthy open world games but I have the same late game lethargy I get from Creed games. Too big. Too many things to collect. Still a great game and given the shite releases from so many major companies, I think it was a monumental effort to get such a massive game release without a giant pile of bugs other than stuttering optimization.
I'm at the haligtree so I am getting near the end.

My son rolls on the pc and he said the studdeding issue was fixed in 1.0.3

I haven’t had any issues on Xbox. It’s been smooth.

I played through and beat it twice (230 plus hours) and loved every minute of it

Me too. It's the best game I've played in a very long time. Now I gotta go finish Horizon Forbidden West and then I have no idea what I'll jump into next.

In general I disagree, I thought crumbling faram azula and the haligtree were both excellent. I think some people may just be getting fatigued of the game by the time they get there and that's ok.
The game could have gone to the final boss right after morgott and it would have probably had the same reception as a great game and I think that is what people were expecting.
