Add Skate or Die and Contra and this is all you’ll ever need.

Dusty Diamond's All-star softball is awesome.

Solstice might be worth it for the opening theme alone. Rest of the game is fun too (though I never beat it).

In fairness, a lot of these games are available on Switch Online.

Certain ones I’ll have to buy online, like Zelda and Tecmo.
If you have the hardware skills, you can get updated Tecmo. There's a site called Tecmobowl.org where they publish updated rosters every year, and it's possible to save them onto a Nintendo cartridge if you want the full experience.

HOLY shite I don't know how I could forget, but get Star Tropics. Just a fun, wonderful game.

And you can't trust Nintendo to not all of the sudden go "...... we're removing this game from the online library......just cuz".

Suggest an everdrive if collecting the cartridges is not something that is important to you. Also suggest one even if collecting is important as long as you got the spare money. However if you don't then here are the ones that I liked a lot as a kid and have at least played during my adult life via emulation:
Super Mario series
Zelda series
Ghosts n Goblins
Metroid
Karnov
TMNT (all of the beat 'em ups)
Battletoads
Some others that I have not played in a while but remember being fun:
Roger Rabbit
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers
Super Mario series
Zelda series
Ghosts n Goblins
Metroid
Karnov
TMNT (all of the beat 'em ups)
Battletoads

Bubble Bobble hasn’t been said yet and I’m disappointed

Top 5 game imo: Nobunaga's Ambition

Super underrated.
In that category, so is Baseball Stars.
I went through an 8-bit renaissance in the early 2000s. I hit up lots of flea markets and pretty much picked up every game I ever wanted as a kid. Now that they have the pin socket replacement kits, that's a game changer.
Do they have it where you can replace the on-board batters on the Game Paks that had them like Zelda, FF, etc?

I preferred Genghis Khan. Couldn't ever get into Nobunaga.

While this is true, they haven't removed a single title from Switch Online yet. The library isn't where I'd like it. For the life of me, I don't understand why everything that was originally available via Wii/WiiU Virtual Console isn't on Switch Online.
There's obviously some massive gaps in those that are available digitally. If forced to spend money on physical copies of games that have been out there for 5+ years and nothing vanishes from the Switch Online library, and spend that same money on the physical Paks for the games that aren't - I'd put the money on those I can't play digitally on the Switch.

I’ve got a crate full of them probably around 100. Contra and castlevania. 2 of my favorites along with road rage, TMNT, bad dudes, all 3 Mario’s, and a lot of others

Yeah I never heard many people talk about Karnov but that was one of the greats for me as a kid...even with me sucking at it.
