Well, we have a baseline set. With the exception of GTA 2, each next version has outsold the last.
GTA 5 really set a gold standard with 150+ million sold.
If they cannot top GTA5 2013 numbers though, they will be doomed

This would be funny AF and on brand for Rockstar humor. Both sides would cry. The people complaining about the over the top character drag queen and the people complaining about indoctrination. Win win!

A female protagonist isn’t “woke” as they’ve always been a thing, but they should keep the insensitive jokes. It accurately reflects the real world.

Lazlow's gone too. He and Dan Houser wrote most of the scripted humor in the games. They probably couldn't keep it going, if they wanted to. But they *should* want to and at least try.

The PC path has been rumored since Houser left. It was also speculated the development time slipped significantly as a result of that change in course. GTA 5 is 10 years old and they just removed the trannies, the exact same “punching down” explanation was offered. The next game may be fun, but it will effectively be a GTA spin-off, not a successor.

If this was done in the culture and political climate of 10-15 years ago I’d be fine with it. If they kept the female protagonist as more of a cocaine cowboys type character. Like a more badass Griselda Blanco. Instead we all know why they are doing this and without the social commentary it won’t be nearly as good as previous games
