I never played the DLC. I may need to pick it up or Lords of the Fallen.

I know there's a handful that will go walking off from the bonfire back towards the other end of the street. Maybe you just missed them and ran off before they patrolled back.

I didn't die and I didn't go back using the lamp. Or I'm an idiot and just spent so much time in the sewers I forgot running past the bonfire.
I killed all of the bonfire folks and then went around to the sewers. Hung out in the sewers a bit until I saw what looked like a ladder to open the shortcut.
By that point I figured I should go back and level up since i used the knowledge thing for some insight. Bonfire was full. Everyone was back. Wasn't just missing a guy or 2, they were all back and I walked right into it.
Don't know if using the insight caused it. Or opening the shortcut. Or if there are zones and once you move from one zone to the next the zone respawns.
Not a big deal, but it was nice to know I can clean an area and it stays safe until I use a lantern. Now, I no longer have that comfort.

Thinking what I must have done is opened the shortcut, then hit the lantern for repair, then gone back to the sewers through the shortcut circumventing the bonfire then forgot I didn't clean it.
Got totally owned tonight and quit early. I've been mainly using the 2 handed attack so tonight I worked on parry and learned I need a lot lot lot more work on parry.

I would learn to parry. You will use it all throughout the game. Once you get the timing down for enemies you'll become comfortable with it and it'll seem easy and become fun to use on a lot of enemies

When would you recommend starting the DLC? The last boss I beat was the Witch of Hemwick. I skipped Old Yharnam because I read where you can piss that NPC hunter off and he won't join you.

I'd go much later. The DLC is tough

Didn't have much time last night. Bad mistake since it forced me to be impatient. Deaths resulted over and over.
Tonight I can finally sink my teeth into the game and play until I fall asleep.

I started it over last night, died 3 times before i even left the building you start in
Made it to the bonfire people, died again and called it a night.

Was just about done clearing the 1st area other than the werewolves and the boss.
Forgot I wasn't playing Uncharted and went flying off a ladder to death.
Took me 90 minutes to find the damn 5k blood I lost. I guess the good thing about the damn echoes being in the very last spot I looked, I doubled the amount to 10k and found a few extra hidden items.
At this point I need to work the first boss.

Last nights attempt at the Cleric went much better. I was definitely over leveled after all of my farming and poking around.
I found the next guy but didn't want to attempt Father G last night.
This morning I've been practicing parry a bit. I must have missed the lock on tip. That makes parry about 1000% easier. Think I've maxed my axe in this area so I need to nut up and head over to father G for some happy good times.

You have to let them get next to you within reach and as they swing, you shoot them. They drop to their knees then you hit the normal attack button and it does a visceral attack for mega damage.
It doesn't always work and it isn't easy to time.
You need to push R3 to lock onto them so your pistol actually hits them.
find some easy dudes all by themselves to practice a bit.
1.R3 to lock on.
2.Wait for them to get close.
3.Wait for them to wind up their swing.
4.Right before the swing moves forward shoot them.
5.They drop to their knees.
6.Normal attack now becomes a powerful visceral attack.
Think that is the way it works.

Just curious, did you pick the pistol or blunderbuss for your firearm?
Posted on 7/1/17 at 1:16 pm to Meursault
pistol.
Figured the other would be too slow and since I wasn't planning on upping the sidearm stat much didn't think getting the blunder would be worth the hassle.
But since I know next to nothing about either I could be wrong.

Starting a new playthrough next week bc of this thread smh

The pistol will serve you well. I got so used to the parry timing of the pistol I was reluctant to try anything else. It can carry you all the way to the end.

i dont care if i make any progress tonight, my mission is to learn to parry dammit.
