BB and all Souls games have this skill barrier that anyone can get through. Most causal people give up before they reach it. But if you power through, there is a definite "oh shite" click moment that you hit, and you get the rhythm and flow of the game.

Once you get that moment, they become some of the best games in recent years, BB is excellent.

I play most games on medium and managed to beat Bloodborne.

This game would have been a perfect training tool for Darth Vader and the Emperor to sway people to the dark side. Succumb to your anger. And I haven't even gotten to a boss yet.

That town square bonfire at the beginning is an especially brutal entry point to souls games. There are still difficult parts later but once you pass this learning curve, you'll probably be able to make it through the rest of the game

I loved the game and got to Rom the vacuous spider. I was really under leveled for that fight and I stopped playing at that point. Father G is an amazing boss fight that really teaches you how to counter and dodge.

frick Father G. I was overleveled and still had to cheese him with the whip/cane.

Yes. As many times as possible. I ended up just getting his beast form stuck between two trees in the back and cheesing him with the whip. I probably died 20+ times.

Same here. It was frustrating. And then I was told to learn to parry. So I practiced and practiced parrying the big hunchback dudes on the way to Father G. After a few tries, he went down. Like a bitch.

I could parry everything except him. I tried. In this game, as well as Souls, I tend to grind for days (literally) to get overleveled before I progress. It may make the game easier, but its the only way I can continue to play and have fun.

I'm about to start this tonight after work. I can't parry for shite but I've beaten DS 1, 2 and 3. Hopefully I don't have to learn now.

You dont have to parry, I didn't (save for maybe one human boss) at all and beat the entire game.

Learn. So satisfying when you nail it

I beat Bloodstarved Beast in one of the chalice dungeons via a string of like 12 straight parries w/ viscerals.

the first part can be brutal. once you get through it and learn all the enemy positions, you start to get in a rhythm and it gets easy.

Well, I have been avoiding the first boss and just exploring around. Found the sewer area and poked around there a bit.Picking up that insight down there cost me because when I headed back to the bonfire which I had cleared, there were dudes there and it seemed like there were more of them.

Did grabbing the insight reset the bonfire folks? I didn't die or leave and come back. Just cleared the bonfire, then headed toward the sewers, opened the shortcut then headed back past the bonfire and all the folks were back. What caused them all to respawn? Wasn't expecting that pack to be there and got butchered. Do they respawn after a set time?

This game is right up my alley. I like exploring and I like that taking the time to look around every corner or through every box, can actually pay off sometimes. Haven't had much time to play yet and probably won't until the weekend but from my early impressions, sleep is going to be in short supply this weekend.

It really is a fantastic game. Playing for an hour can suddenly be 3-4 without even realizing it.

The enemies shouldn't re spawn if you didn't die or rest at one of the lamps

I don't think picking anything up resets enemies.
