I remember first playing this game and thinking what the frick did I get myself into. I couldn't even get past the first area after about an hour of finally realizing what the method to the madness was.

You are lucky. Took me about 5 hours. I have no idea why I stuck with it but so glad I did.

Strangely enough...this was the one boss that actually gave me a lot of trouble once things started to get rolling. I learned patience with that fight.

Yeah, with patience this really isn't a horrible fight. Just kill all the spiders and the only hard special to avoid is the Ice Rocks from above garbage. The other special attacks are easy enough to avoid most of the time.

Just need to be patient killing all of the support spiders.

So far I haven't had enough patience.

This is the key. It is also the only bloodborne fight I used a sidekick or whatever they are called. I didn't mean to do it but it helped me realize that without him I just have to go slow on the little spiders.

Decided to hit up Darkbeast Paarl before heading back to Rom.

Not worthy. That was too easy. Hunter Axe and my best bolt prot armor and he barely touched me. I used 1 pot.

Went back to Rom, slowly killed all the spiders with tonitrus. Then back to axe with bolt to hit Rom.

Rinse and repeat. Staying out of range for his blast attack, then targeting and sidestepping to avoid his range attack.

Really only messed up slightly a few time but it was never in doubt. Crushed Rom.

Did the second chalice dungeon. Dude with the fast attack wrecked me until I learned to dodge backwards and pot up. Then I got him.

Everyone is a heck of a lot harder in the new areas. I didn't do any additional boss fights but I made my way to the shortcuts in 2 areas so I must be close to finding the bosses. Definitely found the boss fight area by the poison lakes but wasn't up for another fight.

Might wait til the weekend to progress much further.

Great creepy game.

Did you let your insight get high or did you keep it low? I know you see more creepy stuff with high insight but those extra attacks make it tough.

As you can see. I took a rage induced break that lasted a little over a year.

Started over again. This time I did a pile of farming up front while watching tv to make sure I had enough blood vials. Also used insight to buy some extra fire paper.

Cleric Beast - 1st try
Father G - 1st try
Blood Starved Beast - 1st try (I still can't parry but somehow beat the bastard because I was over leveled)
Vicar Amelia - 1st try
Witch - She got me a couple of times with her special move hitting me with a big mob around to finish me off.

Also completed the first chalice dungeon. Stupid dog took many attempts but I got it.

Now I'm off to the forbidden forest.

We've had very similar experiences TigerMyth. I started this game back in March but once I got to Blood Starved beast I hit the wall. I beat Father G on first try and only took 2 or 3 tries on Cleric beast. Once I get BSB down to half health I just couldn't get him anymore. I haven't picked the game back up since March.

I remember having this same problem the very first time I played Dark Souls back in 2011 and then having that moment when everything just clicks. Unfortunately I don't have the same amount of time to play games anymore so now all I do is play Fortnite when I have the time. Hoping that one day I decide to give it another shot bc I know I can do but just have to push through. But for now BSB has made me quit.

Carson is the one to really ask these questions towards. A few others in here as well.

I don't think I ever kept my insight here in this or dark souls. I feel like I used insight to upgrade stuff? I can't remember now.

Reading up on insight it seems like it is less than half baked. Seems like they had plans for insight, then stopped because it really does you zero good to have high insight. You see a few more things but you see and hear those things once you kill Rom.

Worthless unless you can save up 60 then buy an extra blood rock.

Well, I couldn't wait til the weekend.

Killed the Hunter in the church. He got me once but even the first try, I knew he wouldn't be that hard.

Then Killed the 3 hunters in Gaol. First try I got 2 of them. 3rd one blasted me with his canon and I was dead. Got him pretty easy next time.

Also killed the one reborn. Probably off to the poison lakes tomorrow night. I'll do a thorough explore then hit up the boss.

Poison lakes area cleared. Amygdala only got me once.

Cainhurst Castle tonight. Maybe hold off on Nightmare of Mensis until tomorrow night.

The rage is real. For some reason I can't get Martyr Logarius.

Yup. Finally had to learn to parry.

Also finally had to switch out my starting axe. It is just too slow for this fight.

Got Ludwigs and upgraded it as high as I could get it.

It did enough damage to get to the second part of the fight, then I got a few good parrys in for the kill.
