I will say the first prologue was very jarring. It starts very fast and I was worried maybe a little too fast but now it’s done a bit of a bait and switch back to being a little bit more grounded.

Oh boy, the mouth animations…

Opening up to the valley is really cool though

In the first hr some a-hole kid’s dad walked me to a tree, picked out a switch, and allowed me to whip his son until I saw red. 10/10

I didn’t whip him…. His dad is a drunk a-hole. I did fight the son, put him in his place, then beat up the dad too. Now that entire family are my bitches

How oppressive is the timer? I really hate games with timers and that's one reason why I never finished Outer Wilds.

From an outside of school tabletop rpg perspective, I like it. . The decisions you make do advance time. But it feels natural and sensible.

The prologue your sent out to go get medicine and return home. There are several side quests you can do. You can’t do all of them, and the story hints if you skip all of them and come straight back, things play out differently because your in a certain place at a certain tkmr

Combat can be incredibly janky. The absolute biggest issue is I can’t disengage easily. I’ve had multiple issues where I try to to run away and it keeps me locked on and I’ll run away and get stuck on terrain and I’ll get got.

This is especially annoying for a mission where you can run past enemies and jump on terrain. Jump won’t work when in combat and as I try to run past them, accidentally keep getting locked on to them

The convent mission is so fricking awesome. Highlight of the game so far. Really strong writing that did what the Witcher did best, present you with a fricked up world and your just trying to figure this shite out

The open world is a bit different. I do agree that like at first, your concerned about “oh, I only have 30 days” but then you realize game is perfectly sized that you should be able to do most of what you want to.

The spongy enemies are absolutely killing the game for me.

I think too that the Achilles heel of this style of combat is always when fighting multiple enemies. Dawnwalker tries to skirt around this by making enemies essentially attack you one at a time, but it still doesn't work. The camera swinging and shaking makes it hard to see the block icon, and enemies will attack you from damn near off screen.

The game also loves cockblocking character progression behind "books" that you obtain from who knows where.

I'm about 11 hours in and still probably every other activity or quest has yellow or orange skull enemies, so not sure if I'm just missing something.

I do like that you can sequence break a little bit. Spoiler alert, but one of the main bad guys you have to kill is just hanging out inside a church in the city at night. You can walk right up and kill her. No need to do any of the side activities tied to her.

What changed things around for me is there is an option to change how blocking works. I strongly encourage changing that option. Basically it changes to blocking will always block but then if you don’t direct it, it will use up stamina. That has made combat so much easier.

I will also say, I have had no issues with the missions being high level.

One thing that was also hurting me is I kept forgetting to upgrade my equipment for both day and night sets.

I’d recommend just focusing on taking out bandit camps and wolves. D. Dads for awhile until you get leveled up.

I haven’t ran into any bugs if that’s what you’re asking. Running pretty solid. Only thing is menu system seems a lil janky but maybe that’s my setup

Is the game good? Should I get it?

You know what type of games I like most likely and Witcher 3 is a top 10 game for me

Yes but it doesn't change the fact that enemies still take too long to kill.

It’s not taking me that long to kill people anymore really. I am now consistently hitting for 600 damage and a lot of that is in area of effect attacks.

I have now killed two lieutenants with just the mongol guy left.

My biggest issue right now is I feel like I am extremely missing out on quests…

I’ve had a few more involved quests, but the game is hinting to me of so much more going on that I just don’t see.

Update after a day both IRL and game time of playing

Ok, in the last day, I will say the amount of traditional quests I have has skyrocketed

Did the father Florian stuff. Did the vicho quest line which was fun. Love Vicho. I did the tooth fairy quest line.

Did the very long first rebellion quest line with Sara and the rebellion leader. I have thoughts. I feel like the moral stance of what happens is all wrong.

I finished Anca’s story (I think)

I met mean bitchy female vampire. Lots of good content
