Starcraft 2 is probably the closest you will get to RTS in terms of C&C style. It'a holding me over until, hopefully, the C&C/Red Alert franchise is revived and done right. EA almost systematically destroyed the entire genre and that void has been going strong for nearly a decade. You can also check out Northgard and Frostpunk on steam. NG is an indie RTS similar to AoE, except with the vikings and frostpunk is a survival city-builder

Is there any video I can watch to explain the Total War: Three Kingdoms RTS mode? Particularly 1 vs 1? I dont really have interest in anything but RTS vs humans.

Warcraft 2 and StarCraft were very similiar in nature.
WarCraft 3 was very different than SC, was not a traditional RTS as it was thought of as the time, it actually began the drift away from RTS's to MOBA's. They reduced the army sizes and put he focus on hero management. DOTA started as a WC3 custom map and grew into it's own genre from there.

I never could get into Tiberian Sun or Yuri's Revenge but I played Red Alert 1, 2, and 3 with great devotion.
I still have good dreams about A Path Beyond and A Path Beyond 2. Haha

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I was not familiar with MOBAs. They dont look like my jam but maybe they would be more fun to play than they appear.
