Super Mario Bros 3 is the correct answer
although base wars was pretty sweet.

That city in Zelda II that you just have to find without any fricking clue you even need to discover a fricking city pissed me the frick off to no end. You just wander the woods, the exact place you try like hell to avoid, then have to know to press B or whatever next to the trees to turn them into a city. WTF?
ETA, that wall that you can magically jump through is fricking ridiculous as well. They're telling me that I have to disregard all knowledge I've ever learned about how a fricking wall works in real life and in video games and just assume I can jump into the one in this random room of this confusing temple and Link will just walk through it like it's a glitch or something. As much as I loved this game, there were a lot of WTF moments.

How has nobody mentioned Battletoads?

Little League Baseball- Pick California or New York since they had the fat kids and you always had a homerun when they came up to bat.
Tecmo Bowl- Where the Flea Flicker was the easiest play to score a touchdown

Because Battletoads is fricking impossible once you get to this level:

I beat the turbo tunnel only to die two levels later. That game is responsible for many angry outbursts on my behalf.
The award for shittiest game ever for NES goes to:
I never knew where to go or what to do in order to play this game. I always wound up wandering around aimlessly killing zombies and other assorted monsters until I died.

That shite never worked for me. What I did was I would hold the game firmly in my right hand, then perform somewhat of an upward slap on the left side of the cartridge. Pop it in, and it worked every time.

Only if you were playing multiplayer.
Contra was the best game by far on NES btw.
