For me one that’s recently stuck out is a bit of a throw away from god of war ragnarok. Atreus says one day he thinks he’ll be better than kratos, and in response kratos says, “ If you are not then I have failed.” Idk if it’s because I’m a new dad or what but that really hit me hard.

"It had to be me. Someone else could have gotten it wrong."

I always thought the Mass Effect trilogy had pretty good character writing in general, but frick man, they wrapped up Mordin's character arc flawlessly.

Honorable mention to pretty much all of the near endgame dialogue between Shep and Garrus. For all the bullshite Mass Effect 3's ending (rightfully) got on release, it was worth playing the trilogy just for how they concluded the bromance between Garrus and Shepard after all the shite you two went through throughout all three games. He really felt like a best friend at the end.

"May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead."

The Mass Effect series if full of dialogue gems. Plenty of games have great dialogue moments, but ME is hard to beat in sheer volume of gold.

Actually, now that I've thought about it, I'm going to revisit my answer, because I think you're asking something more specific:

Off the top of my head, though I'm sure I'm missing countless examples just as worthy, the line of dialogue that most resonated with me on a personal level was a brief line from Regis in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine:

"Honesty's an attribute of the truly brave, and thus, a privilege of the very few."

The original Fable from Lionhead Studios was chock full of dry British humor that either you get or you don't. Personally, this game made me laugh.....a lot.

Planescape: Torment is my favorite dialogue writing in a game. There's great narration too that tells the protagonist's internal thoughts and gives vivid detail of the world in a way that only text can convey.

The limited spoken dialogue is good, and there's a surprising cast including Tony Jay, Sheena Easton, Keith David, Rob Paulsen (Yakko from Animaniacs), Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson), and the usual, but always welcome, Jennifer Hale.

Fable is just ridiculously fun to pick up and play randomly after a while. You're spot on about the humor. For all of Fable 3's shortcomings in comparison to the two before it, that divorce quest is still one of my singular favorite RPG quests ever.
