Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)

Baldur's Gate 3 is a Turn Based RPG from Larian Studios, the creators of Divinity: Original Sin. It uses the Dungeon and Dragon's ruleset
the game is so good and polished, other game devs have gone to twitter to plead to gamers not to expect this to be the new standard of gaming.
LINK
I have been playing Early Access, and the game is great. My first character was a paladin, but I decided to try out a Warlock and determined i like that better. So i'll be a warlock on release.
Classes:
Barbarian
Bard
Cleric
Druid
Fighter
Monk
Paladin
Ranger
Rogue
Sorcerer
Warlock
Wizard
Races:
Human
Githyanki
Half-Orc
Dwarf
Elf
Drow
Tiefling
Halfling
Half-Elf
Gnome
Dragonborn
These games are challenging, so thankfully there will be a multiplayer option. A party of 2-4 can adventure together, with the progress being saved on the host's machine.
If you are a fan of RPGs, and can handle or learn Turn Base combat, i highly recommend this game.

Damn I just saw this PS5 released is a month later. I didn't realize it was this in depth though.

I bought early access when it first came out but realized I would get burned out if I played it too much so shelved it. After the last Panel from Hell I tried it out again and got hooked. Can't wait for the full release. I typically play a paladin on my first playthrough of these kinds of games, but might go something different since I just played through Early Access as an Oath of Devotion Paladin.

I'll be trying it out...
Probably going to start with a monk. My two favorites are:
Way of Shadow, straight up, or with a warlock dip for better damage.
Way of Open Hand / Battlemaster Fighter. Ultimate crowd control. Disarming strike, stunning strike, Flurry of Blows with a 15 foot push on each hit... Enemy is stunned and 30 feet away from their weapon.

i rolled a paladin first too, but with the quick introduction of shadowheart as a cleric, i figured two healers for Early Access was too much.
Went with a warlock 2nd,and have been playing that. Party is 2 warlock (me, Wyll), 1 fighter (Laz'el), 1 cleric (Shadowheart) and have had a good time.
lot of depth to this game for sure.
Eldritch Blast with the Charisma +modifier is a pretty powerful warlock spell

Never played a dnd pally as a healer. Spell slots are for sites. Haha. I supposed it would work just fine but seems a shame to leave him on heal duty. Always used cleric or druid for that

Baldurs Gate 2 was a favorite back in the early 2000s.
I haven’t really kept up with crpgs in the interim and I don’t know if I have the time to really engage with this game, but I’m excited to give it a shot.
Larian seems to be a solid heir to early 2000’s BioWare. The divinity: original sin titles are apparently really good and seem to be the gold standard for the genre now.

Playing thru the OG now. I'm also one who has no idea what DnD is now...I stopped playing after 2.5 core rules and now they're like 5th edition. Thought it was getting too complicated even back then lol.
I've purposely avoided everything about BG3. Gonna give it a shot, but I'm concerned there's gonna be too much micromanaging. Heard it's a massive game.

I think this goes without saying...

Plan on getting it for ps5 if the console version runs well. Been itching for an rpg with a lot of depth to it.

Longsword + shield. Dump INT and WIS. Focus on CHA for spells, STR for damage/hit, CON for hit points.
If they ever add hexblade warlock, that will change the whole deal. Warlock and sorcerer are good MC for pallys because they all cast with CHA.

If you decide to go that way as a paladin get the "Dueling" fighting style. It's not readily apparent but the +2 damage works even with a shield equipped.
I think I've decided to start with a two handed Vengeance Paladin with great weapon master. I typically play some kind of two handed wielding character and/or paladin on my first play throughs of games like this, so it only fits.

When hexblade gets added (at some point), I will roll my hexadin with polearm master. Using a spear and a shield, you have great AC while getting a third attack. Its only d4, but you get an additional chance to crit/smite.

two days to go.
seems Drow are the most popular class based on a survey i saw. I am likely choosing Drow as well.
The mind flayer story is pretty interesting.

Went ahead and started playing the pre-release version. I hope to God they are going to unlock the camera and allow players to swivel it. It's annoying as hell to see the edge of an enemy hiding behind your character's action bar and not being able to target them because the system won't allow targeting through the bar.

i was able to swivel holding down the mouse3 button? i think.
but yes, even if you aren't referring to that, the targetting system can be pretty annoying, especially when on the very edge of a ranged attack with terrain differences.
