Really bummed. BF1 was close enough to a WWII that I don't really feel this is needed.

Just like World War I got a sequel, Battlefield 1 is getting a followup later this year. The game is Battlefield V. It was previously known as Battlefield 2 internally at EA. Battlefield V will return the series to World War II in a main entry for the first time since 2009’s Battlefield 1943, GamesBeat has learned from sources familiar with EA’s plans. These sources wish to remain anonymous.

This is an entirely new Battlefield game and not a remaster of the 2005 Battlefield 2. EA will reveal it soon, and it will launch it before the end of this calendar year.
EA and Battlefield developer DICE decided on this strategy several years ago. They knew they wanted to get away from the modern and near-future settings for a while, but it also didn’t want to burn the WWII setting right away. This led the studio to start with WWI knowing that it could always still go to WWII with the next game if Battlefield 1 didn’t work out. Of course, that wasn’t the case — Battlefield I finished 2016 as the No. 2 best-selling game in the United States, according to the industry-tracking firm The NPD Group.
While EA is going with World War II, some fans may remember a recent rumor from December that DICE is working on Battlefield: Bad Company 3 that takes place around the Vietnam War. That rumor isn’t accurate. If EA is considering a sequel to its console-focused Bad Company spinoff series, it likely won’t happen soon. That said, DICE is listening to fans of Bad Company, and it is keeping a potential sequel in its back pocket in case it needs to make another strategic shift in the future.

shut up, sweat
Honestly, they needed to do another modern installment and THEN go WWII. Way too long between their modern games.
I'm super skeptical now so they're going to have to really blow me away to convince me to buy in again.

i would be disappointed if they don't create a battle royal mode like pubg and fortnite.

They’re already trying to piggyback off CoD so why not try to be even more unoriginal?
I want more of our real life conflicts today. Afghanistan, Iraq, any of the other -stans.

Its going to be the same exact engine. Weapons wont be futuristic I'm guessing, will be more in line with actual WWII weapons. Supposedly getting rid of the random weapon spray completely.

Getting my hands on a thompson or grease gun again might make me feel differently.

Lol you dont just keep Bad Company in your back pocket you dumb fricks. Outside of BF3 it was what put you on the map. frick you dice. frick you EA.

Bad Company should have been the in between. There was no need to stick to the old school for two straight installments. I really don't get it.

Like are you fricking kidding me. The only reason the are saving Bad Company is because they know it will be their saving grace when shite hits the fan for this franchise. fricking Christ.

Did Hardline scare them or something? Considering how that got made, it's an easy misstep to avoid.

Yeah it should always be the in between. But no. Lets play cops and robbers. Dumb fricking company. Bad fricking Company.

Hardline should have been the time for Bad Company 3.
If they remaster BF3 I’d buy whatever they are pushing tho.

How many times do I have to tell you that's essentially what BF4 is?
