Was watching a video of a play thru of the Shivering isles.
What a great DLC
Absolutely loved the story line, characters, and especially Sheogorath

Maybe, I still prefer Morrowind. But also played more of Morrowind. When Oblivion launched I was balls deep in MMOs. Didn't give it enough of a play.

the only thing that got old was the oblivion gates. going through the first one was rad, the others a major chore. just too samey.

So much truth in this thread, the gates got old, but the guilds were awesome.

I thought oblivion was the worst elder scrolls game without mods. The level scaling of the entire world felt really bad.
There were a few mods available on PC that made it my absolute favorite ES

Oblivion gave you the option to play your character the way you wanted, not pigeon toed, like skyrim.
You could work on the skills, attributes you wanted.
Skyrim was my 1st RPG, and i love it, and really enjoyed oblivion, especially the DLC(minus horse armor).
If they take some of the best of ESO, and the best of Skyrim/oblivion/morrowind TES6 could be great, but i have my doubts, i think they whizz on all the TES fans.

Motherfricking spell crafting was the bomb, and Shivering Isles is one of the best DLC’s I’ve ever played.

When playing Oblivion it's really hard to get past the creepy NPCs.
Skyrim brought the atmosphere back to TES.

I've been playing it on PC. I now see why people dump on Skyrim for being easier to play, it is borderline impossible to hit long distance spells.

What you mean?
I sort of like the weirdness of the NPCs. It added to the atmosphere.

I’m about a week away from getting my pc completely built and one of the first games I’m going to download is Oblivion. Played the hell out of it back on xbox 360, I can’t wait to play again, but this time with mods.

The way the NPCs interact with the world is fine. Lets face it, that was pretty mind blowing in 2006. Actually Oblivion as a whole was damn well ahead of its time. I just don't see that much of a difference in gameplay between it and Skyrim, so it's mostly just like different flavors of ice cream to me.
I think I can understand though why some people prefer Oblivion. It still carried over a lot of Morrowind's more RPG-centric elements whereas Skyrim dumbed down character progression somewhat.
My biggest problem with Oblivion though is the character faces. The default face models just look weird. There's a mod that fixes the faces though that makes it 1000 times better.
Skyrim's art style is much more closely aligned with that of Morrowind and not so generic RPG fantasy like Arena, Daggerfall, and Oblivion.
I will say though that Morrowind beats the pants off of both Skyrim and Oblivion. It's insane how much content that's packed into what is essentially a much smaller gameworld. It doesn't feel as small either given how you navigate the world as opposed to Oblivion in particular which feels like a fish bowl.

oblivion was my first ESO game. I enjoyed it immensely. Skyrim was great for me too. I have ESO online and i just cant get into that much.
I made a magicka character and the spells seem to weak. Takes forever to kill shite weak character. Im sure my gear is shite but damn

Since I came to TES late (I never played Morrowind, for example), I played the main Oblivion game but I barely got into Shivering Isles before I started playing Skyrim.
I may have to go back and fire up Oblivion for a new play and focus on doing stuff I missed. I don't dig the grindy nature of leveling in Oblivion and Skyrim was more conducive to my play style, but the content in Oblivion was worth it for sure.
