I downloaded Fortnite and thought it looked cool at first impression.
Started up my first game, and about a minute in I ran into another player and got into a gun battle. He ended up building some kind of ramp and wall and climbed on it and shot and killed me from above.
Closed it out then said frick this game, then I uninstalled.
The building the ramp thing turned me off immediately.

That’s not it. I play PUBG on my PC regularly and I’m not the best but it’s a lot of fun. I get owned a lot and I don’t lose interest.
Fortnite, I lost interest as soon as that guy built that ramp. It’s just not for me and reading through these comments I see I’m not the only one who prefers something more realistic.

I hated the building aspect of fortnite until I actually outsmarted someone by building better than them and that moment just hooked me.
It truly is one of those things you don't like until it feels natural. It takes a lot of time and practice for the building aspects to become second nature, and when they do the game becomes much more enjoyable.
PUBG really fricked itself by making the maps as big as they are. Just leads to such a boring midgame that i have no desire to get on anymore.

Fortnite is the faster paced more action filled game which is why I like it better. I do love playing squads on PUBG for a change of pace though.

the only people that think PUBG is better than fortnite are gamers that never played a true mil sim before and think they're tacticool and shite.

Right. Bruce linked a pretty good video explaining how the Unreal engine wasn't built for the large player counts, and how there wasn't much they could do about it moving forward. The stuff they can address and haven't like the drops in connections and such, is pretty damning though.

Yea it's faster paced. Continuously running towards the middle without time to explore and get into fire fights while 2 or 3 people are already camped in the middle ring jumping and sniping people as they try to out run the storm. Get top 5 by just laying low and not shooting.
Lots of fun to be had there

I like the building aspect so I think it's more fun to play. It being a better designed game than PUBG isn't really arguable. It's much better. PUBG will eventually fix its huge list of technical problems.

holy hyperbole. there is plenty of time to fight. it's just like PUBG in that if you land in a good spot, you have plenty of time to explore, loot, fight, whatever. if you land far away from the circle, you still have time, but you better be quick and get to steppin. they are literally the exact same in that regard.

I dunno man I've played 15 or 20 matches in fortnite and got top 5 every time and ranked 8th one without getting a single kill. Was constantly running the whole match, then get to the middle that's already been fortified by a handful of players.
PUBG even if I land way outside of the first circle I have a good chance to find a vehicle and get to explore a good bit before worrying about driving towards the circle. Also killed several people in the 20 or so matches I've played in PUBG. The storm doesn't move as fast plus the vehicles add a whole new speed/ way to kill people dynamic. It's really a night and day difference. Those little tweaks make PUBG a lot funner.

If fortnite were to slow the storm down and add vehicles it would really improve the game imo

you can get to the end by hiding and camping, just like you can in PUBG. But guess what - you will have garbage gear and you will not win. if you aren't good at killing people and building, you will not win, straight up.

they aren't adding vehicles. map isn't sized for it and it's very dependent on verticality. storm speed isnt changing either. you can drop anywhere, have time to loot and fight, and run to the circle without taking damage. i've had drops where I hit several chests, killed multiple people, and sprinted across the map to the circle with no issues. you dont need vehicles when there are impulse grenades and launch pads
sounds like you need to squad up with us and learn the nitty gritty aspects
