$600 isn't that bad. I don't know why gamers expect the price if consoles and games to remain stagnant forever.

I agree to a certain extent but when you throw in the cost Xbox Live, the proprietary external hardrive(with the size of games most will need), an extra controller, and a few launch games you are closing in on a grand. That is a lot of money for most people right now.

Exactly. $600 isn't cheap. Hell. Just throw a couple more hundred that you would spend on console accessories to get a gaming computer instead

I want to get the Series X, but then I immediately think about the fact that I could sell my current GPU and use the $600 on a new GPU.

It’s the same reason Video Games have stayed the same price for the last 30 years. The market is already set, and developers know consumers will pay it. Why increase a console price when you it may cost you potential sales?

It’s pretty crazy that we’re almost 3 months away from launch, and no prices have been released yet. Hurry up already.

They are probably waiting to find out if we are getting another $1,200 check before Christmas

I don’t believe it. Anything over $500 is a huge mental hurdle for most of the population

PC > Console

There is a metric frickton of Console games that never make it to PC.

Some people just want to game in their living room.

Sure and that's the reason to go to a specific console. It's clear Microsoft is trying to merge the console and PC gaming communities though.

Could be done with PC setup

Ive been tempted to over the years but my kids have started playing and sharing all the same account library, Game Pass library, accessories etc is really convenient and cost effective for two Xboxes. That and I dont have as much time to play. I have years worth of titles from this gen that I have not touched.

This is the biggest reason I switched from playstation to Xbox for my cross-platform games a few years ago. And I'm sure the Xbox/PC ecosystem will only become even more intertwined moving forward

$900 rumor now

quote:

Could the Xbox Series X cost $900? It seems so... I mean we might see Microsoft have cheaper pricing on US soil, so even a $799 price is feasible if the math in the Pringles promotion and giveaway is correct.

even $600 would be a catastrophic mistake

Yes it would, but I do find it interesting as we get closer all smoke and leaks are this higher price.

I think you see Microsoft either stick to or beat PS5 price. No matter what, they’re going to use the console as a loss leader and try to capitalize on subscription services to make up the deficit.

I don't think they can do that, their beefier GPU alone would be a decent price jump. I'd be absolutely shocked if it was the same price as the PS5 when it undoubtedly costs more to make.

The new AMD GPU's on desktop are going to start at $499 and offer more performance than a 2080ti, makes it hard to pay $600+ for a console IMO.

The subscription service bundled with a Series X or S is going to be a big push. If they price it right...say $25.00 per month for 2 years for a SeriesX and GamePass Ultimate..Id bet they will sell a decent amount of units.

It's nothing for PC I believe. Console it just combines Game Pass + Live Gold sub.
